Question about Samsung ML1740 Laser Printer
Check to see if the egg-shaped rubber feed roller is cracked. (Pull out the paper tray, it's in the middle at the front on top.) That's what I'm looking for now on the ML-1740. Seems Samsung used cheap rubber for the roller. It should only be a $.50 part if you can find one.

I own a Samsung ML-1740, also. I bought it about 1.5 years ago and it worked beautifully!! UNTIL.... about 3 months ago it started getting paper jams (or at least the printer thought it was getting them). There was never any paper caught, but if I removed the paper tray and put it back in, the document would print just fine. At first it was an intermittent problem, only occurring about once a week. This problem has been increasing in frequency and in the amount of effort it takes to convince the printer that there is no paper jam steadily since it first started.
Have you called Samsung technical support about this? If you have, did they have any solutions for it?
I am betting that there is something wrong with the rollers that grab the paper from the tray. They are either dirty or dried out or something like that. My temporary fix until I can buy a new one is to use the manual feed tray.
I have definitely decided to buy a different printer. I am at least 90% sure that I will buy a totally different brand as well.
Good luck with your printing problem. Please let me know if you find a solution or at least a description of what is causing the problem.
Best regards,
Karla
