Do you have anyway to try this sim in another phone? I suspect the card is the problem but really no way to check it other than above advice.

If it showing you that sim card registration failed then then make sure your sim card is work or not. if your same Sim card works in different phone. it could be that your phone has been blocked by the network

I need a puk code

A PUK (PIN Unlock Key) code is required to unlock SIM cards that have become locked following three successive incorrect PIN entries. If your SIM card becomes locked, you will need to get a PUK code from AT&T to unlock your SIM card.

You can obtain your phone's PUK code from AT&T in one of these ways:

Find the PUK Code for your phone online

  1. Go to the My Phone/Device page in myAT&T.
  2. From the My Phone/Device screen, select the Unblock SIM Card link under Manage my phone/device.
  3. The Unblock SIM screen will display your PUK code and will give you instructions for unblocking your SIM Card.

Once you receive your PUK code, you will need to enter it into your phone to set a new PIN code.

Smartchip not valid error.I am from Mauritius and i use Orange Sim Cards. Is there an unlock code or something else?Tanks

Turn off the phone. Take the battery and Sim Card out. Make sure there is no dust or dirt of where the Sim Card goes. Blow air (from your mouth) of where the Sim Card goes. Sometimes rubbing a soft pencil eraser on the Sim Card contact points can help. Then place the Sim Card back in the phone. Make sure it is in the right position; copper contacts facing downward. Put the battery back in your phone. Turn it on, and see if the smartchip rejected goes away.

If not you may need to contact your Phone Provider’s Tech Support to troubleshoot and confirm that you may need a PUK reset code to register or you may need a new Sim Card, as they do fail from time to time.

SIM CARD REGISTRATION failed, N70

Factory resetting the phone will do absolutely nothing with this problem

There are 3 causes of Sim Card Registration Failed, when you first turn on the phone, the sim card attempts to connect to the network if it can not do this it gives a message like Sim Card Registration failed.

1, The sim card is turned off (is it Orange) if you have had the sim card for a while and it hasnt been used they will turn it off, you need to contact them from another phone to get it turned on or get a new sim card.

2, The phone has a hardware reception problem, when it attempts to register itself with the network it can not... There is a reception problem and it requires repairs, this isnt really an easy diy job on this handset.

3, The phone is blocked, i.e reported lost or stolen. Some networks when a phone is reported will allow it to get reception but will not let it make calls, however other networks will not give it reception at all and hence you get a Sim Card Registration failed message.

I hope this helps, these are the causes of the message.

You SIM card is inactive. You have to make at least 1 paid call every 6 months otherwise your sim is deactivated. If it's new sim has to be activated.

My orange phone displays "subscription problem" at start-up

hello there ....its quite simple...you need to call the customer care of Orange and ask them to register and activate your sim card ..it is free...just keep the model number of your phone number handy (you will find that on the box in which you got the phone)...or the IMEI number (15 digits mostly) by dialing *#06# on your phone or beneath the battery or on the box near bar code....and your sim card number (19 digits mostly)on the back of your sim card the little chip that you put in your phone
that should solve the problem.....

you can also ask the for some freebies ...like text message ,photo and videos messages ...many companies promote them....always good to try something for free before you start using it ...lol

phone numbers

Pay monthly mobile customers
150 from your pay monthly phone or 07973 100 150 from any other phone

Pay as you go mobile customers
450 from your pay as you go phone or 07973 100 450 from any other phone

hope this help
Cheers
