Sticking drum There would appear to be something jamming inside the drum. On manually turning the drum it sticks and needs extra force to get it past the obstruction. This results in horrendous noise on spin cycle. How do you get behind the drum??

SOUNDS AS THOUGH THE BEARINGS HAVE COLAPSED..OPEN THE DOOR LIFT THE INTERNAL DRUM AND FEEL FOR ANY MOVEMENT YOU WILL HAVE TO APPLY A BIT OF EFFORT IF IT MOVES ITS THE BEARINGS.

Cannot remove rear brake drum

When I had this problem in the past I was able to adjust the brakes. If the brake shoes are adjusted out to far they will hang on the drum. There should be a oblong hole behind the plate to stick a screwdriver or brake adjustment tool in to turn the adjustment wheel inside, may be a rubber plug in the hole. Adjust the brake shoe back in to release the friction between shoe and drum. I have had for the most parts American made cars other vehicles may adjust the shoes differently.

Broter hl-5170dn in paper jam drum

Pull out the drum unit assembly. Pull the jammed paper up and out of the printer. If you cannot
remove the drum unit assembly easily at this time, do not use extra force. Instead, pull the edge of
the jammed paper from the paper tray

Not working and the tray keeps popping out a quater way

Something is jammed inside. You can try leaning the PC down toward its face and pressing the OPEN/CLOSE button a few times to try and dislodge the object.....

(Q: do you have kids? This happened to me once after my CD drive was "fed".....)

If the object falls out, you should be OK.

One last thing you can try....

When the tray is sticking at least partially out, lean the PC over as far as you can and pull the tray out fully... you will feel some resistance, but do not force it. When it is fully extended, see if anything is jammed inside it- you may need a flashlight and another set of hands....

If not, the drive needs to be removed to get the object out.

Lens sticking and beeping coming from camera.. will not power up. lens grinds, not opening... please help

Typically, a jammed lens is due to foreign matter getting inside it or a gear damaged by some kind of force. The lens is not normally serviceable and would most likely need to be replaced by a service centre.

Paper jams right before it exits copier

If the plate looks solid, then it's probably right where it should be. It sounds like a sort of ramp that feeds the paper into the fuser.
Start with the paper itself. Make sure it is in the machine properly. Here is a short guide on a few things to check:

Paper jam on back rollers

If it jams every time while printing only 1 page and stops just past the exit of the fuser unit, it is most likely that there is a problem with the paper exit sensor on the fuser unit. We have many of the 1700N printers and have seen several times that the paper exit sensor actuator arm gets broken off when removing a paper jam.

Phaser 8400

The 8400 has a known issue with the plastic that was used for the tilt mechanism on the oiling roller. If you look inside where the cartridge is removed you should see a crack that opens when pressure is applied. The high heat causes this unit to crack. You need that part. Or some good super glue. I have fixed 3 of my 8400's with this same issue.

Good Luck
