Trouble printing on 5.5 x 8.5 paper

It is printing off the paper as if it thinks there is 8.5 x 11 paper in the tray or as if it wants the paper aligned in the center of the feed tray not to the right.
I have set the paper size within the application and in the print properties. I tried to set the paper size on the front of the printer itself but it only has 8.5 x 11 or A4 for options, I tried both but neither worked

SOURCE: Changing Paper Size

If the blue guide in the back of the tray (called the length plate adjuster) is broken or dislodged, the machine may not recognize what size paper is installed. When the guide is moved, three arms on the right side of the paper tray change configuration. Those arms push against sensors in the machine to tell the printer what size paper is in the tray. You can temporarily resolve this by taping the guide in the A4 position, however you should consider replacing the tray or replacing the guide soon to avoid tape getting into the printer.

Hope this helps!

Dell 966 aio printer....paper jam and I cannot release paper from roller. Is there a way to release roller?

Have you read the Manual on paper removal? It mentions a rear panel that can be removed. That might free up the rollers:
If the paper jam is near the paper input tray:
1. Remove the paper tray.
2. Pull firmly on the paper to remove it.
3. Replace the paper tray.
4. Press the Select button .
5. Resend your print job to print any missing pages.
If the paper jam is not visible:
1. Turn off the printer.
2. Lift the printer unit.
3. Firmly grasp the paper, and gently pull it from the printer.
4. Close the printer unit.
5. Turn on the printer, and print the document again.
If the jam is located in the duplex unit or near the rear access door:
1. If you have a duplex unit, remove it.
2. Open the rear access door.
3. Firmly grasp the paper, and gently pull it from the printer.
4. Close the rear access door.
5. Re-install the duplex unit.
6. Press the Select button to continue printing.
If the paper jam occurs near the ADF:
1. Lift the ADF cover located to the left of the ADF input tray.
2. Firmly grasp the paper, and then gently pull it from the printer.
3. Close the ADF cover.
4. Press the Select button .

I am using HP P4515n on network enviorenment and I am facing a problem while giving print to printer, after giving print I have to press ok or c button to take print out result ? Please help me to...

The paper size or type that you are requesting to be printed from your computer does not exactly match what the HP printer thinks it has loaded in the paper tray. An example would be your are trying to print a document on 81/2X11 plain paper and the HP is programmed for 81/2X11 letterhead paper. Or you have tray1 selected and tray 2 has the paper installed. In short when I see this problem it is usually because there is a mis-match between what the computer is printing to, and what the HP printer thinks it has. Just check you paper tray settings both when you are printing the job and check the paper tray settings on the printer to make sure there is no issue.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

My HP 4100N printer often automatically selects to print from tray 1 (the manual feed), when I want to print from tray 2 (the automatic feed). How do I set the default tray?

HP Laser Jet 4100 HP Not pulling paper from Tray 2
Action: The 4100 will look at tray 1 first then tray 2 If tray 1 is empty it will pull from tray 2 if the papersize matches the job otherwise back to tray 1 and ask for the paper. Your machine likely thinks the paper in tray 2 is not the size you want. For instance you have LETTER in tray2 But the machine thinks it is legal. The LJ 4100 detects the paper size in tray 2 automatically. If you print a configuration page: MENU them INFORMATION then ITEM then CONFIGURATION PAGE then SELECT. The page will print and show what size paper the machine thinks is in Tray 2 if it says LEGAL and you have LETTER you need to Check The Paper Backstop in TRAY 2. The back stop sets the length of the paper if it is not at Letter (8 1/2 x 11) the machine will not detect LETTER. Even if it just a little bit off or between positions.
If it is set at LETTER then you may have bad switches in the machine that are operated by the tray. Or the arms on the tray that operate the switches are not moving properly. You will find the arms on the rt, side of the tray and feel them change position when you move the backstop.

Hope this helps helps. Please keep us updated and remember to rate this answer. TF

Paper loading tips:
● Load paper with the side to be printed facing down.
● You can print photos and documents on a wide variety of paper sizes, from
8 x 13 cm (3 x 5 inch) up to 22 x 61 cm (8.5 x 24 inch). The 10 x 15 cm

● Before loading paper, pull the Main paper tray out (use the Main tray release or
the tray grips) and slide out the paper-width and paper-length guides to make
room for the paper. After loading paper, adjust the guides to fit close to the edges
of the paper without bending the paper. When finished loading paper, push the
Main tray back in all the way.
● Load only one type and size of paper at a time in the same tray.
● After loading paper, extend the Output tray extension to catch your printed pages.

Brother printer problem

Manual Feed Command.
1. Press the Job Cancel button to cancel the print job. Delete the print
job in the print queue on the computer. You can quickly access the print queue by double clicking the Printer icon in the task
tray or dock.

2. Turn the printer power switch OFF on the right side of the printer.
Check that the front cover is closed.

3. Turn the printer power switch ON while holding down the GO button
until the Toner, Drum, and Paper LEDs are lit.

4. Release the GO button. All LEDs will be off.

5. Press the GO button 8 times. The green Status LED will flash briefly
while the printer is reset. After the printer is reset the Status LED
will be lit green.

6. Print the Print Settings by pressing the GO button three times. If
the Print Settings pages do not print and the Paper LED is on again skip
to the next section - No Paper in the Paper Cassette.

If the Print Settings pages print, the problem is isolated to printing
from your computer. The Paper Source of the Brother printer driver or
program you are printing from may be set to MP Tray or Manual, instead
of Auto Select, Tray 1, or Tray 2 (if the optional paper tray is
installed). To check the Paper Source setting of most programs, click
File and Page Setup or Page Layout. You may need to click the Paper
Source tab or Paper tab depending on your software application. Verify
that in the Paper Source section does not list MP Tray or Manual. Choose
Auto Select, or another relevant source such as Tray 1. Click OK. Try printing the document again.

No paper in the paper cassette.
1. Pull the paper tray completely out of the printer.

2. Insert the letter or legal size paper into the paper tray with the
top edge of the paper first and the print side down. Make sure that the
paper is flat in the tray and below the maximum paper mark. If using a
paper size other than letter or legal, the paper should be loaded in the
MP Tray. The MP Tray can print on paper from 2.75 in. by 4.57 in. up to8.5 in. by 16 in.

3. While pressing the blue paper-guide release lever, slide the paper
guides to fit the paper size. Make sure that the guides are firmly in
the slots. For legal size paper, press the lever located at the back of
the tray and pull out of the back of the open tray.

4. ReinstalI the paper cassette back into the printer. Press the GO
button. If the alarm clears, no further troubleshooting is needed. If
the alarm continues, follow the steps below.

Paper Jam at Paper Pick-up.
1. Turn the printer power switch OFF on the right side of the printer.

2. Remove the paper cassette from the printer.

3. Elevate the front of the printer slightly to locate the jammed
paper.

4. Gently remove the jammed paper.

5. ReinstalI the paper cassette back into the printer.

6. Turn the printer power switch ON. If the alarm clears, no further
troubleshooting is needed.

4250 printing problem

Make sure you have the paper tray guides pushed up far enough.

Print a configuration page by the printer panel and verify the tray settings are correct. If they differ, check the fences are pushed up and ensure the tray lever is set to STANDARD not to CUSTOM.

If the printed paper tray settings differ to what is actually set, you may have a faulty paper tray width sensor. If you still have trouble try the Restore Factory Settings Option. Remember to note any IP info if the unit is attached to a network.
