Sony multiscan 400ps went black while working in application. When computer boots monitor is not responding, amber light blinks every 2 seconds. I bought this computer used in 1999, it was manufactured in 1998 and was refurbished at the time I bought it. I determined the computer hardware is fine as a stand in monitor works in it's place. Can someone tell me if there's anything I can try to get it working? I have very limited electonics training. There have been times when unplugging/plugging this monitor in has enabled it to be turned on. This didn't work this time, however. I also noticed that the power switch seems to be sticking at times. Thanks, Tim
When the screen turns black again take a flashlight and shine it in the bottom left hand corner where the Windows Start button is located. If you can see a faint image then your back light is failing. If that?s not the case the next step would be to attach another monitor to your computer to see if the problem disappears. If it does that points to the monitor, if it doesn?t then we need to take a look at the computer itself. Let us know what you find out and please don?t forget to rate this posting.

The problem is with power inverter, usually the capacitors go bad and need to changed, they might be bulged and or leaking. Very cheap fix, less than a buck apiece and an hour with a solder iron. Google it to find more info.
