Question about Samsung CXM2785TP 27 in. TV/VCR/DVD Combo
I recently aquired this television from a friend. I am currently in Iraq over in the war so my parts are a little limited. The Television will turn on , but only right when it is plugged in. A white screen shows up , but is shakey a little. I replaced the batteries in the remote first nothing happened. Then i removed the power switch panel and pushed the little blue button manually to see if it would turn off but it won't. The dvd won't eject so i am guessing the vcr doesnt work either. I checked the fuse and it is good. When I was given this tv i was told it wouldnt work but it would come on. At first it was just a black screen then i messed with the black box with the red cord going to the screen. And one of the adjusting knobs said screen so i turned it and that is what brought up the white screen. The red light in the front does not work. I thought something might have just came loose but i dont really know. I do know about electrical equipment ebing is i am a mechanic so i deal with it on hmwvs so i guessed it couldnt be much different and i have also in the past built robots so i know a little bit. Would this be an easy fix cheap or would i be better off selling it to someone for parts? thanks
Unless you have a schematic, its going to be tough to troubleshoot as it sounds like a power supply problem, as these setsd are famous for that. Its most liky a filter capacitor oin a 9, 12, or the 18 volt lines and probaly took out the diode along with the capa as well as the fusable resistor. At this point , where your at, I would say cut your loses and get what you can for it. Good Luck and god bless. I have a brother in law that just came back from over there for the 3rd time. Hes is in the 82nd airborne or the 87th I dont remember. Oh and thanks for protecting us Americans
