TV was purchased in Sept. of 1998. Problem is: picture has become a horizontal line in the middle of the screen that jumps around a little but refuses to become a picture. :) Sound is OK. The line appears when the set is turned on and as I said is not steady in the middle but bounces around. There is no flash of any form when the set is turned off. I hope I'm saying that right. What I mean to convey is that on and off appear to behave normally.

Re: Sanyo TV model DS25710 or DS25730
Set has a bad vertical sweep IC. Also This Sanyo has a tendancy , when the IC blows out , to take the fusable resistor in the sweeo supply that feeds the vertical IC. This set should only be serviced by a trained technician because of ther high Voltage that lingers within. This repair should run you antwhere from 85.00 to 150 bucks. Good Luck

this problem is caused by a faulty ir of cap's . First is c408 on the board it is a 100uf @ 35v i replaced with same uf and @ 50v , Second is a 2.2uf @250v and is c410 on the board replace both and your off to the races.
this is a capacitor that has gone bad in the vertical delfection stage of the tv. it is an very easy and cheap fix if you know someone who knows how to solder and replace electronic components. If not then you'll just have to get another tv as taking it into a tv repair shop is not worth the cost. You could get another tv for what they will charge you to repair it,
You would need to replace the flyback on this and your looking aroung $65 parts and $85 labor to shore this problem up. We can recommend you a repair shop or you can purchase a new TV its all up to you
You have a failure in the vertical deflection circuit. This could be either a bad vertical chip, the power supply that runs the chip or a bad capacitor in that circuit. This is usually a repair best left to a professional. There is a small possibility that it could be bad solder connections. If genlty tapping the unit temporarily solves the issue you can try and resolder the pins on the vertical chip LA7841 is the part number. There is also a resistor 1 ohm 1 watt. If that resistor is open you can assume the IC is bad
this symptom, sometimes called the tube light effect, it is characterised by a bright thin horizontal line across the middle of the screen. this symptom is caused by a breakdown in the vertical deflection circuit. hence maybe the trouble maybe in the vertical oscillator, amplifier or output circuits. but if all i have said is not clear to you, better bring it to a qualified tv technician. good luck!
