I dropped my phone in water what do i do. it turns on but the screen is black
Take battery out let dry for a couple of days. see if it will power up without the battery. And the phone hooked to the charger. If not try same procedure with battery in and power up while charging. Either way take battery out for a while.

I have soaked my phone three times (nokia 3250) by dropping it in the water when I'm fishing!! It has been broken for upto a week on one occasion, but comes back to life once it has fully dried out. Take out the battery, sim, memory and dry it out as quickly as possible with a hair dryer! Worked for me...just don't put the setting on too hot.

I dropped my Sync (A707) in the swimming pool and it floated to the bottom of deep-end before I fished it out. I got everything working (as far as I can tell) in just over 24 hours. In my case, water also got into the fliptop screen and created a haze of moisture on the external screen and the camera portal.
Resist the temptation to power on the phone. Immediately remove the battery, SIM and SD cards. Dry all the components. Slide something absorbant into the SIM socket and SD card socket (be gentle).
Disassemble the lower part of the Sync by unscrewing the six screws (four in the battery compartment and two under rubber plugs at the top of the base cover. The cover is held on by six molded clips and requires prying and flexing of the cover to release them. Start at the bottom of the phone and work toward the top. The two rocker buttons will drop out. Lift the circuit board and dry the area underneath it.
Disassemble the fliptop by unscrewing the two screws under rubber plugs on the camera-side of the fliptop (flip the phone open to expose the plugs). The fliptop cover is also held on by molded clips. Start at the camera-side of the fliptop and work toward the other end. I counted two clips on each side and two clips at the end. Lift the circuit board and dry the two screens (I used Q-tips). (I actually got the phone working, before I disassembled the fliptop - hoping the moisture would go away on its own.)
At this point, leave everything to air dry in a warm room for 24 hours. I avoided using a hair dryer. Reassembly is straightforward pressing the covers back on and hearing the clips engage. The only gotcha is on the fliptop. There is a protrusion of plastic at camera-side of the cover, which needs to be slid under the lip before pressing the cover in place.
Insert the SIM card and battery and power up. If anything other than a normal startup occurs (red screen of death, etc.), pull the battery out and consider your options. The phone may need more air-drying, moisture pools may be missed, or you may be out of luck.

I dropped ,my Sidekick3 in the toilet!
I immediately took out the battery, sim card and memory card.
I let it dry for 4 days, time enough to dry thoroughly in Denver's low humidity.
I put it back together and it works fine! The dry white rice trick sounds like it would be good for humid environments, but you can get actual dessicant packs at places like Radio Shack too.
Or scrounge dumsters outside shipping & receiving departments for free dessicant!
I think the important points here are:

When ever the phone is dropped in to the water, the main parts which are getting affected are the keypad and other main IC's .. there are some chances and phone will be working as normal .... but if the keypad is not working (both keys and key light) , there could be a possiblity of keypad problem, and this alone can be changed in the mobile repairing centre which costs around 250rs. Take off of ur handset's body and put ur phone in sun for at least 2 hrs , it will solve ur problem And if still the same problem persists then chip might have gone, and confirm from vendor about the internal faulty parts of hndset like if display is faulty or not.? same with other parts.

Put your phone in dry white rice for a few days. the rice will absorb the water out of your phone. works like a charm, ive done it tons of times. make sure you leave it in for a 4-5 days though.

This is the translation to **** spanish.... ! Never to light the cell one when al falls water.! 1) de-assmemble the cell one and to clean the board with industrial alcohol using brush #2021. 2) then with a watchmaker type magnifier chekear all the board and to see if does not have residues. 3) with a "heat gun" 800F temp warm all the components of the board including the connectors multipin for aprox of 2min. 4) if with this does not recover the screen(LCD),cambiarlo. 5) to confirm if the problem this in the board to test the LCD in a board that this functioning well. 6) if this in the board the problem to revise the chips of image.

I dropped my phone in water for about 3 seconds ... after blow drying it out and waiting overnight the screen comes on and I get a signal but not all the keys are working ... to call out
My phone got wet, and now after drying it for several days, when you put a fresh battery in it it drains the battery with in seconds.
I didn't drop my phone in water but the keypad lights up and when you shine a light on the screen when then phone is closed you can see the time and whatnot but when you open the phone the screen is black with no hints of a dimmed screen or anything. I have charged it and taken in and out the battery.
I tried to turn on my Erricson 580i this morning. The buttons light up but the screen is totally black. I can still receive calls though. I didn't drop it or it definitely didn't get wet.Any solutions?
