I want to turn the beep sound off when i turn my scanner on

Possible faults:
1.The battery has no power.
2. AC adapter loses energy (need test it)
Remove the battery and turn laptop directly from AC adapter. OR, try to turn the battery directly without AC adapter.

The batteries are at the end of their life. You see, the rechargeable batteries use two chemicals that constantly interact with each other to store electric energy. However, after prolonged usage, the two chemicals are not balanced any more so the batteries start to be able to store less and less charge, until they are unusable. Just replace them and you will be good to go.

Depending on where you are your local police may be using encryption technology that will only let you hear beeps and tones without a proper decoder device.

There isn't a Firmware upgrade for this scanner and I also do not think it is capable of Decoding these transmissions. My Pro-95 gets the beeps and tones also. This model of scanner was one of the last models R.S. produced before adding the digital capabilities.

hmmm...that's not good. works fine with no battery. I suspect your motherboard may be taking a vacation from working soon.

the beep are known as "over beeps", they are generated at the end of a transmission by the transmitting raido to signal that the user has taken his or her finger off the transmit button and has ended transmission, like how they used to say "over". as for the hissing, have you tried adjusting the squelch?

It is possible that that beep is coming from the transmission you are recieving, does it that on all frequency's, or just certain ones? Keep in mind that that could also be a weatherband alert tone. I'm not sure, well I hope this helps in someways, If all else fails read pg 83 of the manual to reset the unit. Good Luck

I have a same issue with my MS-7120, how ever mine is in worse stage, when i power up, it beeps and u can see green/red light blinks on top, and it tries to spin the inner motor + tries to turn inner light on, but after several seconds it goes dead. how ever red/green light blinks on top.

i contact the company which i purchased from, he told me these scanner has life expectation of approx 3 years, after 3 yrs they die.

i was told cause is from heavy/light voltage transfer from outlet.

and they have to be repaired by orbit support.

i am afraid to tell your, sounds like urs is ready to die. just beware !!
