No Sound When I attach headphones to the camcorder I cannot hear sound? Also when I play back any recordings I cannot hear sound from the camcorder? When it is uploaded to the pc the sound is captured? Do I need to adjust a setting on the camcorder? What is the possible cause? Thank you for your time.

Why doi have grey lines across my Sharp camcorder VL z7 when It on play back. Theres sound breakage as well. Can someone tell me why?

Do you get the grey line when you play back incamera ?
Have you transferred the file outside the camcorder ?

If you get the grey line in both, invariably the recording head needs cleaning.

Power on the ViewCam.
Eject the tape.
Use a soft lint free cloth and generally clean the head.
The head of the large metallic cylindrical thing placed slightly titled.
It is right at the bottom of the camera beyond those small posts.
If your finger cannot approach, use a swab with mild spirit/alcohol.
Let it dry a minute and then record a fresh material and try.
Please reply if it helped or not.

No sound on playback

Try playing any other recorded disc in the Camcorder to check you're able to hear sound from it.

Next, press and hold the Reset button on the Camcorder for 30 seconds then turn it off then back ON.

Then, try playing the disc in the Camcorder.

Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sony dcr-dvd105 no sound

Try this:
Play back a recently recorded scene through the viewing screen. Make sure any "mute" setting is turned off and turn the volume up. If you can hear the sound, the problem is not in the camera. Also, run through your menu's audio settings to make sure that they are set correctly.
If you can't hear any sound, repeat the process with an external mike attached. If this gives you sound, the camera's built in mike is defective. Time to hand it in for repair.
If you still can't hear any sound, something else is wrong with the camera. Again, send it in for repair.

No sound when playing back video footage

If there is an external microphone jack on the camera, it would help if you tried recording with an external microphone. Also, the mini DV's will mute the sound if the tape guides are slightly out of adjustment. You can tell if they have moved by trying a known good sound tape in the machine. If that plays with no sound also, the tape guides have moved out of alignment.

No Real Time Sound from USB Port in Headphones

The problem is due to the design of the DELL Laptop itself. It is not dsigned to monitor the incoming signal. I bought a cheap Behringer UCA202 USB-Audio Interface. It provides for real time monitoring the incoming sound. I can also hear the accompanying music while I play along with pre-existing tracks. It's not the highest quality but it was only 25$ so well worth the price.

No sound when playing back video

I had the same problem. Try this: open the LCD screen so that you can access the playback buttons.Make sure camera is in playback mode. Press the "menu" button. Select "narration" . Switch narration to "off" .Now you should hear the recorded audio when your tape is playing.
