I recently just had to get a new phone which is a alltel motorola rokr z6. my old phone, which was the same type, i was alble to use my mp3 songs as a ringer as long it was saved on the phone and not the memory card. i was also able to use mp3 ringtones downloaded from the internet, but with this new phone i can't. it doesn't let me apply anything unless i buy it from the the phone itself. can u help me out?

This is actually a solvable problem.

  1. Go to the Menu and Select "Media Gallery"
  2. In the Media Gallery go to "Sounds"
  3. Find the MP3 file that you want to place as a ringtone and select "Options"
  4. Select Manage>>Move to Phone and you should now be able to set it as a ringtone.

U really need the phone tools disk to change your songs into useable clips. This phone won't play a full song as a ringtone, only clips. THe software is really easy to use and you can find it on ebay fairly cheap, just make sure to enter the correct phone into the software for correct support. Good luck!

The most recent software update locks the ability to apply your own sound files as ringtones... thus requiring you to purchase them...

go to http://forums.qj.net/showthread.php?p=21... they explain how to reprogram you phone so you can use any mp3 or ringtone. It was fairly quick and easy. Just make sure you're following the directions good so that you don't have any problems

try copying your ringtones onto your phone instead of having them linked as ringtones from your memory card.

My razr v3 won't use dowloaded ringtones

you should have the phone debrand by flashing a new firmware on the phone and this would remove the block place in the phone.

Lg scoop

have the newest version of bitpim
make sure you have the drivers for the USB cable you are using.
open bitpim
let it find the phone(it will come up as other CDMA phone)
click FILESYSTEM on the left at the bottom
expand the folder
click dload
right click on lg_mysound.dat and save it to your desktop
after you save it right click lg_mysound.dat in bitpim and delete it
now click brew
click media
click lk
click ms

now drop the songs you want to use as ringers in this file. they will automaticlly load into your phone. it isnt the fastest process but it works.

after they are done loading onto the phone, unhook USB cable from computer, power the phone off and then back on.

the items you just transferred with now be in the my audio file where they need to be to assign them for individual ringers.

NOTE:

everytime you wnat to add new ringers to the phone you have to complete all the steps above, even the deleting that one certain file. not a very hard process and has worked well for me.

good luck and happy mp3 loading songs into the phone as ringers.
