Dvd driver does not play or burn blank dvds compaq r4000

There is no driver from Compaq because it just uses a standard driver from the operating system.

Try removing the keyboard from the device manager.

Then restarting the computer.

try using different software to play the DVD. the default DVD player software may be corrupt


also if you have an old DVD player and new game or movie it MAY not play it

I had the same problem with mine. There is an option of "repairing" on the recovery disc that actually keeps all files and software intact. It worked for me, much better than the full re-format of the hard drive and new install of the OS.

Your DVD drive is missing the Burning Program not the driver. I found an update for your windvd software for windows 7 but you probably have to have the full program installed to run the update. Hope this helps.
