Oven will not heat up

When I set the temp and oven to bake it doesnt seem to ignite. After awhile you smell gas. Is there an ignitor that can be replaced?

The oven ignitor is more than likley your problem. It has to draw a certain amount of amps to open the gas valve all the way. If it is weak it may not be doing it's job. The part number I have for this ignitor is 316030600. It's located under the flame spreader in the oven. One other thing to check is the burner itself. This would be the tube that the flames come out of. Make sure that is is not rotted or plugged. Catriver

CAT DRIVER IS RIGHT. I AM AN AMATEUR BUT WITH A FEW SCREWS YOU CAN GET TO THE IGNITER. ANOTHER CHEAPER BUT THE SAME IGNITER NUMBER IS GE IGNITER -PART NO-WB2X9998. THE BRACKETS ARE DIFFERENT-BUT IT FITS. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO CHANGE BRACKETS-JUST BEND THE LOWER PART OF THE BRACKET UP A LITTLE. THE BRACKET IS A BETTER ONE AND HELPS TO KEEP YOU FROM TOUCHING THE IGNITER. ONE IGNITER IS ABOUT 80 DOLLARS--THE GE IS ABOUT 40.

Gas oven will not lite but thing in bottom glows do not smell gas

By "thing in bottom" Iam assuming your talking about the igniter. If you are and it is only glowing then it probably needs to be replaced. If you cant smell the gas either thats a worring sign in of itself. I would first replace the igniter and then go from there though. Let me know how it goes!!

The problem beleive it or not is that the bake ignitor is weak ,and it is not drawing the proper amprage to open the gas valve. If you have a amp meter access the wires to the bake ignitor(usually behind the storage drawer) and check for 3.3-3.6 amps when oven is set to bake by clamping the meter around ONE wire wire of ignitor make sure only one wire, either one and not both.
if amp draw less than 3.3-3.6 amps replace bake ignitor. I know it seems improbable that if the ignotor comes on that it could be the problem.Professional appliance technicians who would charge a average of $250.00 to repair your oven, have found when the ignitor comes on yet the oven won't heat that a weak ignitor is the cause 100% of the time

Hello when i put my temp for my gas stove on say 350, the pilot is glowing but it doesnt seem to flame/heat up, and i get a somewhat odor of gas, could the therometer need replacing or maybe the ignition...

Your glowbar ignitor part must be replaced, Unplug the range and turn off the gas. Remove yje oven racks, The oven base pan. Then remove the flame spreader. You will see the glowbar ignitor attached to the side of the bake burner. Remove it and replace it with a new ignitor. Replace all the range parts.Turn on the power and turn on the gas supply.

Copy and paste this site for the location of the ignitor you can also purchase the part from them.

Oven not baking.

I have to cook way longer than recipe says.

This is usually caused by a weak oven ignitor. As they age, they seem to perform less effectively. Sometimes the oven will take several minutes to ignite the first time, and even worse on subsequent ignition cycles, resulting in overall low oven temp and poor baking. Replace the oven ignitor. Note, if you have a self clean gas oven, the ignitors are usually the same part number for the bake and broil, so you can try moving the broil ignitor (which is generally used much less than the bake ignitor) to the bake burner if you want to test it out before buying a replacement ignitor.
