Question about Toshiba D-VR4 DVD Recorder/VCR
Purchased new at Christmas time -- this machine has been somewhat of a headache. Purchased specifically to transfer our older VHS tapes onto DVD's to perserve them. This machine has always seemed tempermental; however now we can't see the picture with VHS tape but hear the sound fine. DVD player works fine. Suggestions?

Turn on the player, and I can see the Toshiba logo onscreen. DVD plays fine. Put in a VHS tape, it can rewind, fast forward, play, all visible according to the display on the front of the machine, but no picture and a red icon shows on the upper right TV screen of a line going through a disc. The whole time the front display on the player is looking like it normally does when playing a movie--counter ticking off the minutes, etc. No sound or picture. Check DVD player, works just fine. I have only watched 3 or 4 VHS movies on this thing, it can't be worn out.
