From moment of receipt, the door release push button did not have any resistance to release the door. Could the lever have been broken in shipment? Is this a replacement part? Where do you obtain the special hex type screwdriver head to remove the sheet metal housing?

Re:
Yes it is possible the door open lever got broken in shipping.
If
your model has anti-tamper screws, you can remove them using using a
T20H Torx type or GTXH20-100 screwdriver. If the correct tool is not
available, there are several ways to remove the screws:
- Use a
hammer and a small punch or similar tool to knock out the middle post
of the screw, then use a standard T20 Torx bit to remove the screws.
(Use safety glasses).
- Insert a small flat-bladed screwdriver
(such as a jeweler’s type) into the slot between the post and the edge,
tap the screwdriver firmly with a hammer to loosen the screw, grip the
screwdriver with pliers, and remove the screw.
- Use a hacksaw or Dremel tool to cut a slot in the head of the screw,
then use a flat-bladed screwdriver to remove the screws. (Use safety
glasses).
Once the cover's off, you can see the door opening parts. It's probably the lever.

Hi,
This happens when the latch hook loosens up and moves so that the door will not open when you press the button.
It's a very easy fix, but should be done by a repair person so that the door can be adjusted propery and no microwaves escape.

Hello there: This is normally caused by a faulty touch pad that is failing These touch pads are replaceable but they can cost about 60 to 100 dollars depending on the exact make and model ok I hope this is very helpful for you Best regards Michael
If it went dead almost
immediately after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a shorted
high-voltage capacitor.
If it went dead a few
seconds after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a failing
high-voltage transformer.
If
it goes dead or blows the breaker (or GFI) when you plug it in or open
or close
the door, then there's a problem with a door switch or door switch
mount.
