When i purchased Dimension 3000 it didn't come with a cd of Windows Xp Home Edition, rather it was only installed in it. Some friend of mine told me that the windows cd is copied into the hard disk of your pc. The problem i m getting is that i have a lot of spywares and my computer is running slow. I want to reinstall Windows. But how do i access the Windows cd that is imprinted on my hard disk. Would really appreciate your help, Ahmad Khan.
When you see the Dell screen on startup hold CTRL and tap F11. This will bring you into the Dell specific restore utility.

Contact dell if it was purchased before they had to give you the install cd, it is a purple disc that says win xp w/sp2 for reinstallation

There area couple of solutions to fix this problem 1. search your hard disk for A) drv or drivers folder in which you will be having I386 folder and run setup.exe file to reinstall the os. B) Remove all the spyware from the add/remove programmes in Control Panel. Then os will work fastly. C) Use the System Restore application to the early date so that all the useless programmes will wash away. D) Search your hard disk for an image file whcih contains the windows os

I tried the CTRL-F11 and it didn't work on the splash screen when the computer reboots. I had to wait until I got to the second screen that was blank, except for www.dell.com listed at the top.

Why dont you boot into safe mode and then try system restore and see if that will work

How do I get reinstall disc replacement
will not turn on says....windows could not start...file is missing or corrupt
\windows\system32\config\system
how do i get past this?
had a serious virus problem. computer was working great after spyware removed using pest control. When it told me to reboot to complete repair I got a blue screen that said STOP: C0000135 (unable to locate component) This application has filed to start because basehwnfv32 was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem. WELL, obviously the virus was imbedded on a system file and now it is removed. i have searched everywhere online trying to figure out what basehwnfv32 is and no luck. Its a dell Dimension 3000 w/no recovery CD. There is a recovery partition that I can access, but this really bites! The computer won't even go into safemode. it acts like it will start up but then goes right to the blue screen. Will a recovery disk help me from having to restore the computer and lose everything?
I have win xp w/sp2 cd send by dell , when I am trying to install windows with that cd its not accepting the Key code, its said invalid key code. I want to now if I need to order a new cd or can I restore from hard drive, don't know how. I have Dell Dimension 3000.
I appreciate any suggestion.
on my dimension 3000 I installed, ran, and rebooted as instructed a trojan horse removal program. NOW, I am able to sign to myu computer, it logs on, BUT there are no icons on my desktop...not even the START button, therefore I am not able to access anything from my computer.
I can access (f) keys, but it won't reboot to an earlier known good configuration.
