When using the self cleaning function on my oven the outside of the oven gets so hot you cannot touch it. Can this heat cause the wooden cabinet surround to catch on fire?

Self cleaning ovens clean at a temperature exceeding 900 °F. The doors get way too hot to touch until they cool, but tg h ef cabinet sides and back are equipped with additional thicknesses of special high-temperature insulation. This is required for the oven to pass the clearances requirements.

If your concerned, the minimum required clearances (the required separation from the sides and back of the oven cabinet to the surrounding combustible construction) is stated in inches. Also the minimum clearance over the cooktop).

This information is specified on the listing label. The label is required to be visible after installation, that is, under the cooktop (if the cooktop cover is removable), or (more commonly), on inside the cabinet visible when you open the bottom drawer.

Ideally your oven has a 0" clearance requirement, but there may be a separation of x inches. This space must remain clear to prevent overheating combustible construction.

Never run a self cleaning cycle whilrvyour gone of sleeping. While generally safe, the danger of a fire is expediently higher during the cleaning cycle. (It may also set off your smoke alarm as the food particles burn into ash).

What could cause temp light to flash on a panasonic projection tv

More than likely it could just be *DUST* build-up on the vent openings which vetilate the cabinet body. Or excessive *DUST* build-up on the motherboard in the base of the cabinet. Dust like this makes it hard for the components to disapate heat!

My Samsung 50 inch DLP tv just started acting up. I have a good picture but at the bottom of the screen is a blue box that says "check the No. 1 fan". Then after about 5 minutes, the tv will shut down

I am not familiar with your Samsung 50" DLP, BUT.... The alert message implies that something is WRONG with the "No. 1 Fan." I suspect that it has QUIT WORKING altogether, and after a certain period of operation the TVs internal temperature builds up to a point where the heat becomes dangerous, either to the components, or even possibly becomes a fire hazard.

The shutting down is probably a self-protective function to prevent any more overheating which would seriously damage internal components exposed to the heat, or worse, cause a fire!!!!

Unplugging is good as it allows the system to cool down, BUT to continue use without repairing the cause of the fan failure, is dangerous!!!!

Either get your TV into a QUALIFIED REPAIR SHOP, or get a qualified PROFESSIONAL out to the TV.

IF the problem is not corrected, the TV could be irreprably damaged, or could catch on fire, neither of which is good!!!!!

Dryer making squeaking noise, what causes this?

The squeaking could be coming from the idler pulley on the motor, the drum rollers or a worn drum seal. It is not a good idea to spray the rollers with WD-40. The WD-40 will attract lint that will build up and could catch on fire inside the dryer cabinet. A bad drum support roller or any other squeaking component inside a dryer cabinet will normally need to be replaced.

I hooked up wires as described. I smell elecrical

If the dryer has been sitting for a while, that may just be dust or lint that has gotten stirred up inside the dryer and ended up on the heating element. This is normal and it will go away. This often occurs after the dryer has been moved or cleaned.

However, just in case, you may want to review your power cord installation one more time. The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3575913-installing_a_220_vac_appliance_cord

Verify your installation paying particular attention to how to you have terminated the Ground and Neutral wires. Make sure the terminals are tight and not loose. Loose connections can cause arcing and excessive current which results in burned wiring or melted insulation. If it is correct, make sure you don't have any heavy accumulations of dust or lint inside the dryer cabinet. If the odor does not go away within a day, stop using the appliance and let me know. I hope this helps you.

Samsung DLP HL-R5667W lamp won't fire. Changed lamp & ballast and still won't work. Fans are working fine, color wheel good. Lamp door switch good. When I power on, I hear ballast buzz like it's trying...

Was the replacement lamp the same part number as the original as there are different arc gaps for different lamps and the wrong arc gap will cause the lamp not to light. Since the ballast is powering up the lamp should light if the baalast is matched to the correct arc gap of the lamp being used.

My tv pictures keeps flashing

Modern sets have certain protective circuits to avoid catching fire.
The clicking you are hearing is probably from a relay that is part of this protection or could be caused by high voltage arcing; either condition is not in the realm of a do-it-yourself repair.

Sorry-
