Lexmark AIO X5150 printer powers off just before printing

Hi all, been having a few problems with my Lexmark X5150 AIO printer.

I go to print a page or pages and it makes all the right noises and just as it sounds like it's going to feed the paper through it powers off; talk about frustrating.

I've tried from Word, the internet; both Firefox and IE7, even Photoshop. Every now and then it will work but 9 times out of 10 it powers off.

  • Checked inks and they are fine.
  • Changed power lead
  • Run printer from a socket not an extension
  • scanner works ok
Confused...

Tried your suggestion anaanymous, and I get the same problem, I forgot to mention my OS is Vista Ultimate x64.

I also have VMware running and in particular XP Pro SP3 I set the printer up in there too but I have the same issue, so I think it may be a hardware issue. I'm going to get the multimeter out tomorrow and do some power testing.

Hi, I would suggest you update your printer driver, try this, follow instructions exactly as written, do not use installation cd:

Create a new folder on your desktop and name it newhpdrivers(substitute your manufacturer in new name). Un-intall printer and printer software completely. Go to manufacturers website and navigate to their drivers/downloads or support menu. Select your model, choose the relevant software and download to the new folder you created on your desktop(watch for the light yellow bar at the top of window viewing pane, click on this and choose – download file - . Power down your computer. Reconnect the printer to the computer and turn printer on. Power on pc. Windows will detect new hardware and ask if you have the manufacturers install cd or a location to check for install files. Direct the wizard to your new software, follow the rest of the setup instructions and your done.

Printer lexmark x5150 not print

Try to re-seat the cartridges in the printer. Open the printer cover > remove the cartridges > close the printer cover > re-brick you printer by pulling out the power supply - black box behind the printer where the power cord is plugged in, and re-plug after 10 seconds. When the printer turns on, reinsert the cartridges and close the cover. Try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

If that doesn't help, the problem could be due to a clogged print cartridge nozzle. Please follow the steps below to fix print quality issues with your model:

  1. On your computer, go to Start menu.
  2. Go to Programs.
  3. Go to Lexmark 2600 Series folder.
  4. Select Lexmark Solution Center.

From the Maintenance tab, select Clean to fix horizontal streaks. Your printer will then print a page forcing ink through to clean the print cartridge nozzles.

After printing the test page, try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

I cannot copy or scan message #1203 keeps coming up

The 1203 error message indicates either a communication problem between one of your cartridges and the printer or a short in one of the cartridges. Follow the steps below to fix the problem:
  1. Power off the All-In-One (AIO) and remove the power supply from the back of the unit. Wait 30 seconds, then reinsert the power supply and power the AIO on. Did the error message return? Yes: Continue to step 2. No: Print a test page. If the test page prints, the error is resolved.
  2. Power off the AIO and remove the power supply from the back of the unit. Open the top cover of the AIO. Using the carrier belt, gently move the cartridge carrier to the middle of the unit.
  3. Remove both cartridges from the AIO. Close the top cover, reinsert the power supply, and power the All-In-One (AIO) on. Did the error message return? Yes: There is a hardware problem with the printer. Continue to Contacting Lexmark. No: Continue to Step 4.
  4. Power off the AIO and remove the power supply from the back of the unit. Open the top cover of the AIO. Using the carrier belt, gently move the cartridge carrier to the middle of the unit.
  5. Insert the color cartridge. Close the top cover, reinsert the power supply, and power the AIO on. Did the error message return? Yes: Continue to Cleaning the Cartridge Contacts, then repeat steps 4 and 5. If you have already tried cleaning the contacts, continue to Defective Cartridge Test. No: Continue to step 6.
  6. Power off the AIO and remove the power supply from the back of the unit. Open the top cover of the AIO. Using the carrier belt, gently move the cartridge carrier to the middle of the unit.

Hi I've purchased the Lexmark Printer X5150 and

I hope you got it working already but if the problem is still not resolved, try removing the cartridges from the printer. It might not be seated properly in the printer carrier or just needs cleaning. There's an article in the Lexmark website that gives you instructions on how to manually clean the nozzles on the cartridges. Just click on this link: http://bit.ly/a6VOLr .

I have just change printer cartridge, the display is now showing printer error 1203 followed by cartridge missing could you assist me with this issue please

Hi!

To resolve the printer error 1203 on your Lexmark X5470 All-In-One (AIO) Inkjet Printer, you need to perform the following tasks---

Power off the AIO and remove the power supply from the back of the unit. Wait 30 seconds, then reinsert the power supply and power the AIO on. if the error message return then continue to print a test page. If the test page prints, the error is resolved. If still the power persists then you need to open the top cover of the AIO and remove both cartridges from the AIO. After that power off the AIO and remove the power supply from the back of the unit. Wait 30 seconds, then reinsert the power supply and power the AIO on and if the error message return then there is a hardware problem with the printer. If error message not return then you need to again power off the AIO and remove the power supply from the back of the unit. Reinsert the power supply and power the AIO on. Open the top cover of the AIO and insert the color cartridge. Close the top cover. If the error message returns then you need to clean the cartridge contacts.

Again try to rest it by powering off the AIO and remove the power supply from the back of the unit. Reinsert the power supply and power the AIO on. Open the top cover of the AIO and insert the black/photo cartridge. Close the top cover. Now print a tests page. If the test page prints, the error is resolved.

Cleaning the Cartridge Contacts
1 Open the top cover of the AIO and remove the cartridges.
2 Remove the cartridges. Clean the cartridge contacts and the AIO carrier contacts.

Checking the Cartridge
To see if the cartridge is defective, replace it with either a new cartridge or a known good cartridge from another printer of this type.
1. Turn the printer/All-In-One off and unplug the power cable from the outlet.
2. Open the printer/All-In-One lid so that the cartridge carrier can be accessed.
3. Remove the print cartridges. (For information on cleaning the cartridge contacts, click here.)
4. Using a dry, clean cloth wipe the carrier contacts gently from top to bottom.
5. Repeat Step 4 for the other cartridge slot (if applicable).
6. Reinsert the cartridges, slide the cartridge carrier to its original position, and close the printer/All-In-One lid.
7. Plug the printer/All-In-One back into the power outlet and turn it back on.

You should only follow the steps below to resolve a print quality problem if you have already attempted to solve the problem by printing a "Clean Print Nozzles" page.

Cleaning procedure - Remove the print cartridges. Moisten a clean, lint-free cloth with water. Gently hold the cloth against the nozzles for about three seconds, and then wipe in the downward direction while keeping the print head in downward position on the cloth. Using another clean section of the cloth, gently hold the cloth against the contacts for about three seconds, and then wipe in the upward direction of the print head.

With another clean section of the cloth, repeat steps 2 through 4 above. Allow the nozzles and contacts to dry completely. Reinsert the print cartridges. Print the document again. If the print quality does not improve, repeat the steps for cleaning the nozzles and contacts up to two more times.

If still the error message persists then you need to contact the Lexmark.

Please do rate this solution as FixYa and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Printing blank

If not printing anything go to printer properties and print a test page. If nothing visible replace cartridge. Cartridges known for drying up when not frequently used. Use cotton swab with rubbing alchohol to clean any dried ink from ports and reciever.
