I knocked my tv over and after I had someone pick it up and plugged it in, the side of the picture shows a normal color but the middle of the screen is purple and green, what can I do?
I had a TV the did the same. You can get an electric magnet (from an electrics store sucha s Radio Shack) and demagnatize the T.V. Or a cheap way to do it is turn the T.V. off and drag close to the front of the screen(obviously not touching it though) a car stereo speaker from the center to the edge.
Let me know if this helps.

Like the Other tech, said Most likly the shadow mask inside of the picture tube shifted and the only way to fix that is by changing the Picture tube. You may be able to minamize the discoloration with a deguassing coil, but not likly. Good Luck

Unplug the power cable if the TV is having issues turning on
or off. To reset the electronics, it is important to not only unplug
the power cable from the outlet, but also to unplug it from the TV. Wait
a few minutes for the power to drain from the TV and then plug the
cable back into the outlet and TV. A TV that is not working may not be
getting enough power. Try plugging the TV into a different outlet or use
a different power cable. Tweets, flashes, clicks and flashing pictures
are all signs that the TV is not getting enough power.
2
Check that all cables are plugged into the proper positions
and are secure. Normally if there is a problem with the picture, but not
the sound, or vice versa, then a loose cable is the cause. If you have
spare cables, replace the cable to check if it is the cable that is the
problem and not another component of the TV.
3
Change the batteries if the remote is not working properly.
Reset the remote by removing the batteries and then pressing the buttons
and holding them down for 30 seconds. Then install new batteries. If
you use rechargeable batteries, let them charge for at least 6 hours.
4
Adjust the brightness, contrast and color settings. Many
times when the color is funny or suddenly becomes unrealistic,
readjusting the picture settings is an easy way to bring the picture
back to normal. Adjusting the focus is an easy way to deal with a lack
of sharpness in the TV picture.
5
Check the orientation of the monitor if the picture is not
straight. Any sources of a strong magnetic field can also alter the
orientation of the picture. Some TVs may also have an external tilt
control that can be adjusted. If the TV has been jarred or knocked
about, then the internal or external tile knob may have been knocked
out.
6
Run an internal diagnosis on the TV. This internal diagnosis
is normally found within the TV menu. It can be called different names
depending on the manufacturer. The TV will check all functions and
hardware. If a problem is detected, then a specific code is displayed on
the screen. Write down the code and call the manufacturer. The
manufacturer will be able to decipher what the code means and let you
know what is causing the problem.
Make sure your convergence is working or at least going thru the motions faster than normal . what was causing that to happen to my tv was that i had my component stereo speakers surrounding my tv on both sides and directly on top of the tv.what you have to do is take all speakers away from the tv unplug and hold the power button for 30 sec to totally discharge power from your tv let it sit unplugged overnight or least 4hrs .after that plug it in and adjust with convergence menu.
U Know basic soldering, have soldering tools and solders?Take ur tv back cover off, resolders the video board the connect to the CRT(tv tube). Also, resolders the CRT yoke connection to the main board, the connection have GREEN,YELLOW,BLUE,RED to one connection's plug to the main board. You do the above ur chances to get colors back are 80-90%.U can tries to reset the tv back to factory setting,by unplug, replug it an hour later, this method 50/50 to get the colors back.
is the blurry all around the picture have different color like a smear of red, blue or yellow? if it is i think the posistor of your tv is not working. it is the one who activate the degaussing coil around the picture tube the prevent color miss-landing upon opening your tv set.
This a convergence problem. You maybe able to correct "electronically" by using the remote control and menu setup options. If you cant get where you need to go via remote control. A profession tweak may be needed inside the tv to phyiscally align the colors. good luck
yes when it hit the deck it dislodged the scan coils on the tube neck also the degauss line has probably broken crt sets normally survive this but allass it will never be right sorry but dump job really.
Hi, According to the symptoms, There is a problem in vertical out section.Just check it there must be a capacitor that has been burst or leak. And second one reason could be the malfunctioning of vertical IC.Which is also in the vertical section.
