If you can use the LCD to take a photo and then use the LCD to review it later then the fault can't be with the camera. Have you tried checking the photos on another computer?
Maybe your software is corrupt and needs uninstalling and then reinstalling again. Actually, from memory this camera has a few effects and one of them could be a negative. Check that you haven't switched the effect on by mistake. You'll find it in the camera's menu.
What's causing the distortion I'm not sure.

I'm looking at our FD90 as I'm typing - it should be very similar to
your FD75. Use the menu button to move the cursor left on the
bottom of the display until "EFFECT" is highlighted. push the
center of the menu button to select EFFECT & then push up
to select DATE / TIME.push the button right to highlight "OFF"
then push up to highlight DAY / TIME. push in the center to
select and keep the day and time "effect" in your pictures.
You probably need a new Sony "Infolithium" battery, by now. The battery lasts a long time
but 10 yrs IS a long time! If you've never repl
aced the battery, it's time to. They charge ok
but don't last very long when they're near the
end of their life! (Sounds like what you're
describing.) The little disc battery only works
the memory for the Date / time / etc.
The write protection is on the floppy diskette itself. Make sure the little sliding latch is covering the hole on the right side of the diskette. If you see through two holes on the diskette it is on write protect.
