Have been using it okay for 3 months and recently wanted to transfer some more albums when it failed to do so. The following happens each time I connect it now: error code 82040008 The portable device NW-A3000 failed to initialized and can not be used.
Any idea how to fix this? I had 141 albums on it so had plenty of space left and the thought of transferring them all again is annoying but I can't get past this error code. Luckily I have taken out insurance on it - but will this happen to the next one?
NW-A3000 error code 82040008:
hey, i had the same problem with my NW-A3000.
i had just loaded up a load of new songs onto the softwear but when it came to connecting my device, it said i couldnt and told me that i had this error code 82040008.
no one seems to know what it means and im at a loss aswell.
but i found if i just re-set my device (i'd lost all of my music anyway) then connected it up again it was fine and not only that it re-loaded on all the music id lost in the first place. not sure if this will be a help but its worth a try?

Re: error code 82040008
Ive searched but can't find anything on your error code. It seems Sony made a real lemon with this unit and made many thousands of people very unhappy.
Most of the trouble seems to originate with the lousy software. The latest downloads can be found at http://www.sonydigital-link.com/DNA/WM/NWH/NWH.asp?l=en
Personally if I owned it and had the chance I'd be going for a more reliable unit.

Not sure if you meant photo album or music album??? Here is the steps for both, music first:
Transfer music from a computer You can use the following methods to transfer music: ● To install Nokia Music to manage and organise your music files, download the PC software from www.music.nokia.com/download, and follow the instructions. ● To view your device on a computer as a mass memory device where you can transfer any data files, make the connection with a compatible USB data cable or Bluetooth connectivity. If you are using a USB data cable, select Mass storage as the connection mode. ● To synchronise music with Windows Media Player, connect a compatible USB data cable, and select Media transfer as the connection mode. To change the default USB connection mode, select Menu > Settings and Connectivity > USB > USB connection mode.
This works for music, photos, or video: Select Menu > Settings and Connectivity > USB. To have the device ask the purpose of the connection each time a compatible data cable is connected, select Ask on connection > Yes. If the Ask on connection option is turned off or you want to change the mode during an active connection, select USB connection mode and from the following: ● PC Suite — Use Nokia PC applications such as Nokia Ovi Suite, and Nokia Software Updater. ● Mass storage — Transfer data between your device and a compatible PC. ● Image transfer — Print images with a compatible printer. ● Media transfer — Synchronise music with Nokia Music or Windows Media Player.

I have the exact same problem with a 16GB (NWZ-S545) and using Windows Media Player 11. I've tried deleting the songs off the player, manually adding album art for the songs and putting them back on but it still will not display album art for certain albums. There is a folder on the walkman (My Computer\WALKMAN\Storage Media\Albums) that contains all of the album covers even some of the ones that do not display. I'm thinking that something goes wrong when you first transfer the music and then it never can be corrected. Possibly formatting the player and adding everything back in will fix the problem but that is something I want to avoid if at all possible. Let me know if you figure anything out. Thanks.

Hey Bossu-78, According to information provided by the manufacturer, you should be able load pictures onto your Sansa player by following the steps below: 1) Connect your MP3 player to your computer. 2) Select "Convert using Sansa Media Converter" when the player first establishes a connection. 3) Click on the "Add media" button to select the photos you want to add to your player. 4) The files being transferred should be added to "My Album." You can then click on the album name box and choose the name that you want for that collection of files. 5) Click on the "Convert" button to start the transfer process. If you're still not sure how to proceed, you may want to check out the manufacturer's website for more information: http://www.sandisk.com/Assets/File/pdf/guides/e200/e200_userguide_en.pdf Hope this helps you out. All I can suggest is that you go to the sony website and first go to the download page for sonicstage cp. There is a link to update your firmware to 3.0. After doing that, if you arent already using it, download sonicstage cp from there and use that instead of connect or old sonicstage. That will probably sort you out.
To delete photos from the SmartMedia memory card in your camera, you must first download them to your computer.
Follow this procedure to transfer your photos from the camera to your computer:
1. Make sure that your PDC 640 is connected to your computer and both are turned on. The "PC" icon should appear on the status panel on the top of the camera.
2. Open the PhotoMAX application on your PC.
3. Click Get Photo.
Note: If you are using PhotoMAX Pro to transfer pictures, you need to select PDC 640 Camera from the Select Source dialog box (select File > Acquire > Select Source), and then select File > Acquire.
4. Click Album or flashPath.
5. Select the album in which you want to save your images, or click New Album to create a new album.
6. Click Camera or Scanner.
7. Select PDC 640 from the Sources list on the Select Source window, and then click Select. The PDC 640 Twain Driver window opens.
8. Click Get All to transfer all the images in the camera memory to your computer, or select the images you want to transfer to your computer and click Get Selected.
The images are transferred to the selected album, which is located in the PhotoMAX Albums folder. The PDC 640 Twain Driver window closes.
9. To edit a picture, double-click the image in the album that you want. The image appears in the image tray.
