My phone will only work on Speaker function. There is no audio from the earpiece. The phone has never been dropped or damaged and is less than one year old.

HI, when a cell phone has Low sound for top loud speaker and earpiece when calling , it is when the loud speaker and the earpiece are weak to perform accurately and will need to be replace for better sound quality for your cell phone.
When a phone drops on the flow or water gets into it,might cause the hearing of the lod speaker sound to go weaker and weaker every time.
When you replace the ear piece and the speaker, you phone will work perfectly again.

Change your earpiece.Need to know in phone have 3 kind of mic:1,microphone to make somebody hear our voice. 2.Ear piece to make we can hear for sombody voice. 3..Buzer to make phone ringing or louder sound when somebody speak (speaker). in that case your earpiece is not work,so change your ear pice. there is a solution to the problem.The ear piece is faulty and it needs a replacement.
Get a new earpiece, and a screw driver to open the phone, remove the faulty earpiece and replace it with the new earpiece.
But if you do not know how to loose the phone or fix it, take it to an mobile phone engineer to help you fix it so that there will be no further damage on the phone.

Unfortunately, this will not resolve your issue, as it appears that your earpiece has a loose connection and must be repaired, or you can continue to use speakerphone, bluetooth (if capable), or wired headset.
you need to change the flat cable the one that goes to the screen because its the one that supplys voltage to the Earpiece .
Because of the sliding everytime it gets damaged or dropping down also does damage it
