My DVD will not play but maybe once in 10 times. You can hear it spinning, but it just quits. It has had hardly any use at all. at first I thought I may be doing something wrong, like mayber it was on pause, but my grand son checked it out and that is not the problem;thanks

Had a similar problem. Called for support, but was told needed new reader. I took off the cover and manually slid the reader mechanism back and forth a few times. After doing this, tried another dvd and it worked. Apparently it was stuck and not able to move to read the dvd. Give this a try.

Actually, a clicking noise almost ALWAYS signifies a bad optical pickup. I've replaced them more times than Einstein could count. It's a cheaper DVD player so it might or might not be worth it to take it in for repair than to just get a new one.

Start clening with a cleaning cd or blow dry air in to the port of the dvds (buy a can in radio shack) if the problem persist you may have a damages reading eyes or a bad ic...a few times but very few times de car that carry the reading eyes is block by something and a little push solve the problem...good luck...

Emerson VCR/ DVD Player Model # EWD2203 makes clicking noises when I watch dvds

OK, first go through these steps:
(if they doesn't work, then you have to say good bye to the combo.

1.) check if your DVDs aren't scratched (very common)
2.) check if your DVDs aren't dirty (eg. somebody held it in his hands after he ate a juicy marmelade bread)
3.) Try to clean the head (lens) of your DVD player with a cleaning DVD (at least 5 times).

I have an emerson dvd/combo player and i have had it for at least six years. now i am receiving the error message "unable to read disc" for movies that i have purchased

Hello
Insert a head cleaning disc into it and play it for atleast two times. The fault is with Laser Pickup Unit [ the reading head]. If the fault is due to dust or fungus on its focussing lens, the cleaning disc will wipe it off. If this does not help you, there is no other way than replacing the Laser Pickup Unit with same type and number fitted now. OK.

No playback

The dvd player does not recognize discs above 2x. I contacted Emerson, they have a software upgrade they will send you for free, but you have to ask for it. I think it gives the player the ability to read up to 8x.
