Both Technics SL1210 mkII's loud hum and almost no sound...

Hi, The weirdest thing ever happened a few weeks ago, I wanted to record a set and I switched on my gear and I experienced a very loud hum coming from both my tt's and there was almost no music seeping through, even weirder was the fact that my mixer (Stanton SMX 501)went schitzo on me, for example:the cue/master fader for the headphones functioned as a panning fader on the channel fader. So I replaced my mixer with a Rane ttm56 and hoped it was the Stanton mixer that caused the hum and weird stuff. The schitzo mixer part is sorted by replacing the mixer. Now I'm left with 2 decks, that simultaneously came up with the same problem, a loud hum and muffled music, also when I move my hand over the turntables the hum gets louder.. I've replaced the rca cable off one deck, not the grounding btw cause that was still ok, and nothing changed.... I'm lost here....

You seem to have some feedback hum from somewhere. I would think it might be caused by a faulty connection somewhere.

Technics su a900

I have the same TECHNICS SU A900 MKII as you are talking about and it always runs warm I think using 4R speakers instead of 8R speakers should solve the problem and actually I am thinking of switching to 4R as well.

Hi there, i just bought 2 Technics mkii

well" for a start, they need to go into a phono socket, this amplifies them.
i take it you bought 2 decks with the intentions of mixing, so you gonna need a mixer.
MIXER & DECKS SET UP:
1.decks into phono channels 1&2
2. black GROUND wires, go to GND screw on back of mixer
3. RCA master / booth Outputs on mixer to AUX / LINE-IN on amp.(not phono)

Our electrolux front loader Washing Machine EWF 1083 won't fill with water and there is a humming sound, does anyone know what the problem is ? cheers

Just a long shot - it may be the water inlet filter is blocked? normally there is a little mesh filter in the hose that screws onto the back - check that its not full of crap. This happened to me only a few weeks ago hope its as simple as that for you.

Technics SL1210 mk2 loud hum, it's not the rca or grounding cable...

This normally happens when the carts are removed and the amp is up. Its called microphonic-ing. Cheers john. Styluscity.

Sunfire Subwoofer 110 Noise on input plugin

A few more questions-
Does the sub hum without anything plugged into it except for power? If it makes a real loud hum almost a squeal then I think the rca cable between the receiver and the sub is dead shorted and needs to be replaced. If it's more of a low level hum, then it's a ground hum caused by many things, ie........the receiver and the sub being on different power circuits in the house.......sometimes diconnecting the cable tv feed as it enters the room while the sub is connected and humming to see if it stops........the easy fix sometimes is using a 3 to 2 prong ac adapter but lifting the ground on such a powerful amp could be a fire hazard.
