Securing a wireless network includes:
1. Setting a router admin password so nobody can get into your router (do this by using the default user/password to access the router and in Basic settings set a password...go to http://192.168.1.1 in your browser to access the web interface.
2. Set up a SSID for your network...this can be any name with numbers value...its just a description
3. Set up under wireless settings you WEP encrption with a password so when you scan for wireless networks you will find your SSID named network and when it prompts you you enter the password you set for WEP.

I need to fix my secrutiy setting

Connect a LAN cable from Belkin to your laptop/computer's LAN port, open a browser on your laptop/computer and enter the Belkin's configuration URL. http://192.168.2.1
The default PW = blank (just press Enter) You can now change the default admin password.
You can now configure the wireless settings. Now configure the wireless card in your computer/laptop with the router's wireless settings. To secure your wireless network from unauthorized access, please click on this link and follow my instructions :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

How to wirelessly hook up xbox live GOLD

wirelessly hooking up xbox live is an easy, simple process; tech savy or not. first, you will need a wireless networking adapter, which range from 80 to 100$ USD. bestbuy or walmart .com are examples of retailers of such product.

hook up the the adpater into the back of the xbox 360.

if you do not have a wireless router that is currently serving no purpose, you will need.
bestbuy and walmart are once again ideal retailers, and i would suggest a Linksys brand router, hook that up and configure to your router.

no more purchases, except for a xbox membership of course.

turn on the xbox with the Wireless networking adapter plugged in and tap the center "Big X" button, scroll right twice and find "network setting" from there, configure network, and then scan for networks...

if you were successful in hooking up the router, you will find your router as an option to connect to, you may or may not have a specified sercurity.
if you do, you will be required to enter the password you chose.

you should now be connected to xbox live...

What is my network sercurity key.

The Network security key is -

Theencryption key secures your data from unauthorized access. The router's password is a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA orWPA2 encryption key. The Passphrase generates the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryptionkey and this is in the router's wireless settings. To connect to your wireless router, configure the router'swireless settings ie SSID, plus the WPAor WPA2 encryption key and then configure wireless cards in the laptops and orcomputers with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktopcomputers can communicate with your wireless router.

I have a wireless router serial #18R4787J0E3AB

You can't you have to remove router from power and find the little hole on edge somewhere, and reset it for a few seconds, say 10, then you must set it all up again, this time writing it down.

Dept ed new DER laptop connects to internet at school. Detects wifi unsecured home network, signal is excellent but little orange warning signal appears above connection bars and it won't connect to...

contact your internet supplier how can help with a lot of the sercurity problems.also your internet setup might be wrong for wireless as it may be only set for your broadband.you can check by checking start, control panel, internet options, connections,if broadband there should be nothing in box,if is remove, next press lan settings and see if the automatic detect settings box is ticked.next close, go back to internet options in the control panel, select security, click on local intranet and put a tick in the box.(enable protection mode).click on trusted sites and tick box(enable protection sites)check the restricted site and do the same. do this before contacting supplier. then go back to start, control panel and look for sercurity center this looks like a shield, double click , open and check all sercurity features are switched on.go back to start.and try internet explorer.
