Bought the radio a long time ago but only now opened it up. Did the wind-up routine. Put it in the sun. I thought it was broken. Absolutely no sound from the speaker. Finally, I plugged in a headset and it works okay. Is there anything I can do to fix the volume control? Can it be fixed?
If the volume is adjusted when the headphones are plugged in I'd be looking at the speaker. It may need replacing. I don't know if the headphones are run from a preamp or attenuated via the audio output IC. If it's run from the preamp then the main output could be kaput. Check the speaker and it's wiring first and go from there.
