No sound from speaker

Bought the radio a long time ago but only now opened it up. Did the wind-up routine. Put it in the sun. I thought it was broken. Absolutely no sound from the speaker. Finally, I plugged in a headset and it works okay. Is there anything I can do to fix the volume control? Can it be fixed?

If the volume is adjusted when the headphones are plugged in I'd be looking at the speaker. It may need replacing. I don't know if the headphones are run from a preamp or attenuated via the audio output IC. If it's run from the preamp then the main output could be kaput. Check the speaker and it's wiring first and go from there.

An issue I had with my radio was the sound not working. Some wires were touching metal this causes the sound to not work. In addition to this make sure the antenna cable is hooked up!

Meter shows good send & receive strength but no sound from internal or Aux. speaker.

If mic is ruled out (broken connections etc) likely a cap in the audio circuit has opened--this happens a lot when a radio is stored for a long period of time.

Going to need a schematic and a meter to test the caps in the audio circuit--could also be a bad audio chip or connections at it.

My radio worked when I bought my truck but now it turns on but will not play any sound to the speakers

Park your truck in a silent place (best time to do at night) ask someone to get close to any speaker and in a silent place and turn on the radio. When turning on there should a slight "click" sound in the speaker. If there is a click sound then tune to other radio station and try if still no sound then there is a problem with your receiver circuit. If there was no click sound then either:
Your radio amp circuit is gone or
Wire connecting speaker are broken

You can trace the broken wire by physically checking the wire from speaker to head unit, if its fine then your radio needs repair.

Put the radio in my truck about 4 months ago, worked great. the truck sat for months because it was broke, now i get it fixed, put the face on my radio and everything is on, my radio, my amp is running but...

Turn the volume up to the highest level.

Can you hear a hiss or static?

NO...usually means speakers are disconnected..often loose socket at rear of radio or broken wiring

YES...Hiss means either blown speaker, faulty radio or faulty aerial.

If you have tape or CD as well , this will prove whether it is the aerial or not.

HISS with CD or tape playing means faulty radio or speakers

WORKING OK with CD or tape means faulty aerial

06 ultra radio no sound from speakers only headset.

Switch is fine. You have a damaged audio circuit caused by vibration. Check the bikes mounting brackets. probably broken. The radio will need to be repaired. www.ironcrossaudio.com
