Teac usb2 tv tuner

I just purchase this for my laptop thinking I could transfer my VCR tapes to DVD. However, I am having such a hard time trying to figure this out. I attached it to the DVD player and it get a perfect picture and sound...but it is in black & white. I got the cable to work for about 30 seconds and then it went off. There are so many darn places to hook things up I am TOTALLY confused! Is there any instructions out there for Electronically illerate people? Thanks, Betty

What is a USB tv box and what does it do?

This is Teac's description of what this unit can do.

TEAC's TV Tuner enables video and regular Television viewing on a notebook or desktop PC. Simply, turn your notebook PC into a portable TV! TEAC's USB TV Tuner is the smallest video capture USB2 device available today. The tuner allows you to watch, capture, and record your favorite TV/CATV, VCR, DVD or Video Camcorder on your PC, then burn them to VCD, SVCD or DVD disc with your CD or DVD Burner. Simply connect your analog cable or antenna to TEAC's TV Tuner, grab the remote and you are all set! The Tuner can be used to record video files or TV programs in DVD quality. With the bundled MPEG-1/MPEG-2 Encode software, recording a favorite video or TV program can be easily done. MPEG editor can be used to edit video files, which can then be burned into VCD, SVCD, DVD by using CD/DVD Maker software. The Tuner can support multiple video inputs, including S-Video, Composite Video, Coaxial/Antenna TV connector. It is a DVD quality TV/Video recorder.

We have VCR tapes with videos on it we would like to convert them to DVD or CD- how should we do it

I hope that you have plenty of time on your hands. If you do, then you will need a video capture card or tv-tuner USB dongle. Most large computer stores carry a variety of choices. Hook the line-out of the VCR to the TV-tuner or video capture card and use the digital video recording software that came with it to record your video to your hard disk. From here you can edit it with a video editing program and burn the finished product to your DVD or you can burn the raw files to the DVD.

Play & Record VHS through TV Tuner Card

You need to connect the ariel to the vcr, then the vcr to the card, using a male/female fly lead. Then I suggest putting an origional film tape into the vcr, press play on the vcr and then scan in the channels on the card. It should pick up the vcr's output of the film that is playing.

Vcr to dvd

Hi you could install a Video Grabber or an Internal TV Tuner card into your computer if its Desktop computer or an expensive USB TV TUNER if its for laptop . Plug in the composite video out from your VCR to the Composite Video in to the computer .Use nero or any other software to build a movie in fact the bundled application software of your TV TUNER or VIDEO Grabber card would be better .

Configuring I/O cable box, VCR, DVD.

Unfortunately you would need a second digital cable tuner to do what you are trying to do.
The digital tuner only outputs one channel at a time, selected by that box, so you can only record or watch that one channel at a time.

Many people are switching to dual tuner DVR's to cure this dilemma.

Teac USB2 TV TUNER Video Capture

Hi Betty, First of all, this tuner requires that your laptop support USB 2.0, if your laptop is fairly new (made within the last 2 years) you should have no problem. Make sure you install the software first, and then plug in the USB cable from the tuner to your laptop. Your laptop should see it, and install it automatically. Then plug the s-video cable from your VCR to your TV tuner. Also connect the audio cables (white and red cables) from the VCR to the tuner. That's it. Please let us know how this works for you, and if you need any additional troubleshooting. Best regards, nightdiver
