Question about Olympus Camedia C-770 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Battery/Power trouble My C-770 is 2 years old and I still have the original L1-10B batterys that came with it. The camera goes through periods of non-use so has not been used excessively. When I put in a newly charged battery the battery indicator says the battery is full, but then take one picture and the light blinks empty and usually dies with the lens out and the ISO numbers still on the screen. I switch the power button into the off position but it generally takes a min before it actually shuts down. I have this problem with both batteries whats my problem? Is this an expensive fix or a battery/charger problem?

I have the same problem. I have 7 of these LI-10B batteries and they all have a short life with a full charge. When the voltalge gets down to 3.6 volt the camera starts blinking the battery low charge. That sure is not much margin in the cameras operating range.

Using a little common sense I'd be checking the batteries first. You're going to need a new one sometime anyway so get a new one and try it out. Just make sure your battery charger is working first. It sure sound like battery problems to me.

HP Camera won't flash

HP wont get your money for another camera period- the have dropped cameras from their line up- in the UK any way.
The precise reason for the non function of the flash is not immediately fathomable - but it is likely non use ,the capacitor that triggers the flash in a full state and not having been discharged could have 'killed' it.
As with pretty well all low end digital camera s'repair' is not an option, only replace.
So off you go and buy a new one- if it is flash you need- but perhaps you can live without it.
So often you see folk using their camera swith the flash popping off when in fact non was needed.

Digital rebel battery drain with flash only

I would suspect the batteries

Ive got an eos Rebel think its just over 4 years old
for the last year its been used every weekend for several hours 300+ pics per weekend between 2 nights I found that recently where one battery would last a night the battery was running out midway through & also taking longer to charge afterwards

2 after market replacements cost me about £10 and things are back to normal

5 years is a pretty good lifespan for a battery so its probably just getting old

Rechargeable batterie won't work in my Camera.

Not sure what camera you have, but some cameras require a very steady power supply voltage. Also not sure how old your rechargeable batteries are either, but batteries (alkaline and rechargeable decay over time. With the rechargeable ones, the more you use it, the less it can charge to full capacity over time. For example, if your rechargeable battery is supposed to charge up to 1.5V, over a period of a year with constant recharges, you can test with a volt meter and see that it never really goes back up to 1.5V, but more like 1.48V, 1.45V or maybe even 1.4V.

Depending on the camera or other item you use rechargeable batteries on, it can adapt to low voltages with special circuitry inside (but only to a certain limit, when a battery is old, it is old).

You can try buying a new set of rechargeable batteries and use it few times and see if this fixes the issue. If not, your camera may be faulty and just draining the battery (not too likely, but it happens).

Have you tried replacing your battery? Since it is a few years old, that may be the issue.

Battery/Camera problem

Return the battery to Radioshack and try another brand of replacement battery. It is possible that the Radioshack battery is in stock for a long period of time. batterries have limited shelf life and it gets worse if they are left discharged for a long period of time.

Type of battery

The Ni-MH batteries are recommended for the active photographer. The NI-MH batteries are rechargeable, economical and work well in low temperatures. The CR-V3 Lithium Batteries are recommended for the less active photographer. They are lightweight, non-rechargeable batteries that provide hours of shooting.
