Question about Hitachi 43UWX10B 43" Rear Projection Television
While watching TV, the power will shut off. The power indicator will flash and there will a dull clicking coming from the TV. It has done this numerous times and a quick pop on top would usually fix the problem. After the lastest episode the picture came back on with a distorted tint wave going across the screen.
Sounds like you have some bad solder joints. The problem is not fixing them but finding them. If you can solder and know TV safety you should be able to repair this. Unplug the unit and remove the back. The bad solder joints could be anywhere. Remove each board and look at it with magnification to identify the bad joints and resolder anything which looks suspicious. You could also resolder all the connections on the power supply board and see if that solves your problem. From your description of the problem it sounds like that is where the problem is located. Good luck.
