First of all, you aren't going to like this solution because it's the truth. If you rate me poorly, it's because you don't understand the truth. The optical pickup is bad and needs to be replaced. Anything made by Xtreme sound is poorly built. Yes, you're lucky to have even gotten four months use out of it. I've seen some that only last for two months and they die. Fortunately, that's why you didn't pay that much for it. I would suggest getting a Pioneer in the future.

JVC KD -S680 needs help

maybe short circuit or similiar problem inside since its geting hot, probably not a problem with the faceplate I would remove the cd player from your car and take it to a professional for a diagnosis / repair estimate. Can't solve this one with text only.

I have no display on my kenwood radio, but it will play the radio fm stations. the cd door will not open either.

Use a small pick tool (like dentists use) to reshape those brass connectors on the back of the face plate. If this model has a ribbon instead of brass connectors it's junk. Make sure where the connectors meet the head unit is clean.

Can't get navigation and cd player to work

You can purchase the manual from the dealer. You need the disc for the nav system to program it. Another is you may need to have a code to operate the nav. Did you press the mode button to go from radio to cd? Try to detach the negative battery or press the reset button to factory default, this will bring you back to the factory settings. It looks like a small hole on the radio face. You must use a fine point to push it in and reset it. Is a cd stuck inside of the cd slot? Do all your trouble shooting first and you will find your answer......runjoe
