Question about RCA P52929 52" Rear Projection Television

Convergence setup menu gone

Wile watching the TV my children tell me the screen "wigged out". When it finally settled down the convergence was way off. I went to the screen menu to adjust the alignment but the menu choice was gone, not unavailable, gone. What would programming options disappear? I unplugged it for 10,15 minutes and plugged it back in but no change. Is there a master reset or hard boot function I can perform? Thanks for any help. Mike

    we left for three hours with tv on for elderly mom came home and colors separated picture really messed up kinda sinks in middle but mainly red green and blue shadows behind everything like colors separated. i went to menu and to cnvergence hit converge instead of resetting ite made double blue red and greed thin lines at top , then converge was gone on the menue and it went back to picture and still wrong. help, lost manuel, plus technically challenged

    I have a RCA P52929 that the convergence menu is gone. I tested both R19703 and R19722. They had have the normal value of 750K. Do I need to replace them?

No rest on this model other than unplugging to let it return to factory default. If your a tech .. Check R19722 and R19703 for open. Both 750 K. these open make the convergence menu to be gone.

My rca d52w26 convergence is gone.
Look in the on screen menu for convergence and if it is not there you have a open ( bad ) protection part on the main board, a kit exists for most of these sets for this===buttons alone will not likely help here.

the convergence menu missing is a result of this and the part in question is often bad because of bad solder connections.

If you need more info let me know.

How do I adjust the convergence properties on an RCA rear projection tv?
Normally on the RCA rear projection TV's you would bring up your menu and choose the Setup menu, then press OK on the remote. That menu would then have Convergence as a choice. Once that was chosen the next menu would give you the choice of either letting the TV run it's own Autoconvergence program, or you would select either Red or Blue convergence.

Choosing Red Convergence would bring up a Yellow cross-hair in the middle of the screen. If the Convergence was not correct you would see separate Green and Red cross-hairs. Once they were perfectly aligned you would again see one Yellow cross-hair.

Choosing Blue Convergence would bring up a Blue cross-hair in the center of the screen. If the alignment was out you would see 2 Blue cross-hairs. Using the Up and Down and Left and Right cursor keys you would adjust the alignment until a single solid Blue cross-hair was in the center of the screen.

This tv switches to menu screen wile watching any channel. Some times the tv will not switch for 5- 6 hours but once it switches to the menu screen, then I turnof the tv and it will reset to watch tv again...
I have the same problem on my TV, and it seems like the menu button on the side panel is stuck.

I have a PT-47WX53 that has one vertical bar down the middle of the screen. Barely visible in a purple hue and about 3-4 inches wide. I'm looking for some suggestions. Thanks
A few simple things you may try. Under your menu on the tv look for convergence or it also may be under setup. Run the convergence setup and follow the on screen instructions. If the tv fails to converge while in setup you may need to replace some things however the parts are very very cheap. If your convergence setup works and you still have a bad picture, and or both, meaning the tv's convergence wont align then you may need 1 or 2 IC's and maybe need to change your coolant in the tv's RGB lens...all can be done with little experience and for under 50 bucks. I can give more detail if needed.

Rca r52wh74 - no auto convergance
Go to menu then setup look for convergence if it is missing on menu then you have a open FUSE/ FL231, But if you have convergence on menu then go into service mode turnTV off then PRESS and hold at same time ch- and vol- wait for set to come on then release TV should now be in Factory settings.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.
Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

I have made a home made DVD that I have copied from a VHS, but I don't know how to finalize it to be able to play on other DVD players in my house. How can I finalize it? I'm using the D-VR600KU
you have to press DVD Menu. When you get a blue screen, press "Setup." Then go down until you reach "Disc." The next menu you see has "finalize" halfway down the menu. My problem is after I finalize, all my editing is gone. let me know if you figure that out.

A convergence problem is very commond. In most cases the convergence output amplifer IC's need to be replaced. This is not something you should do. Call a repair shop.

before you can watch a recorded DVD on another DVD player you must finalize the disc. to finalize the disc put the recorded disc into the DVD recorder, when the DVD loads it will show the titles that are recorded on the DVD on the screen
push the stop button it is the button with the square on it. the screen will go blank or it may let you watch whatever tv channel you are on if you have your tv ran through the recorder, push the setup buton a new screen will come up, with the arrow down button scroll down and highlight disc edit, press ok another screen will come up, with the arrow down button scroll down and highlight "finalize", press "ok" it is the button in the middle of the arrow keys
scroll up and highlight "yes" press "ok" the recorder will finalize the disc and it can be watched on any DVD player, just remember when you finalize a disc you cannot add anything else to the disc.

just found the problem fuse that causes this to happen. The set I have also was not converging, and the auto convergences option was also gone. The small fuse labeled fl231 which is right next to the big plastic piece with the large red wire coming from it in the left corner of the circuit board closest to the back. It is the middle of the 3 small fuses that are smaller than a Chiclets gum. I was able to pull up the circuit board and jump the fuse with some alligator clips and the set looked great again. Every one says watch out for the unit with that red wire SO WATCH OUT!
