Need help i have a toshiba m45 laptop. when i shut it down it wont shut down i have to hold down the power button to turn it off and then i cant start it right back up i have to wait awhile.

Do not hold the power button down while pressing the "0" key - it'll shut the computer off again. You just need to push it once to turn the power on and then hold the "0" key immediately after you push the power button on - just like turning on the laptop, but this time you're holding the "0" key down.

Hold down the power button until the unit shuts off ;)

its happen because you left it and it was overheat pls take care your laptop work or keep in cool place while working.

you can go to the control panel, find power options, and than set how you want buttons to react.

maybe you just need to clean around power button
built up dust and dirt can cause this to happen

maybe you can try to check your memory module
release your memory module, use am eraser to cleaning your memory. and install it again

Sounds like an overheating issue, I would suggest using a cooling pad.

It's a simple device, you just rest your laptop on it and the fans do the work.

Sometime they overheat when working in a confined space, make sure you have ample room aroung the laptop for ventialtion.

Long press the power button until it shutdown.

and then restart, if the system failure to start tell me what happen i will tell you the solution.
