after hooking it the TV we need to toogle to the external monitor.
Presentation or mirrored display mode

Right-click an empty space on the desktop, and select Personalize .

Select Display Settings

When the New Display Detected dialog box appears, the images on both of the displays will be automatically mirrored.

(Optional) To adjust the resolution, so that the display area of the monitors are the same size in the Display Settings window, select a monitor and slide the resolution slide bar. Click OK to save the setting and exit.
The computer is now ready to display the same screen on all output devices, from monitors to projectors. Press the
fn and
f4 function keys at the same time to switch the image from the notebook display, to the external monitor, or to both.
Extending the desktop

Select the monitor representing your second display. Click the Extend the desktop onto this monitor checkbox and click OK .
NOTE:
To help identify your monitors, click Identify Monitors . The numbers 1 or 2 are shown on the monitor icons to help you identify them.

Yes, I had the same problem for about a year, it didn't block the image so I kept on using the tv on a regular basis, but yesterday it finally did it. The TV screen shut-out completely, leaving just a black screen with a white line in the middle, I took the back cover off to see what was going on, the main board it's burned, looks like it burned a resistor a couple of diodes, and a couple of transistors, so it's pretty much trashed, so now I'm looking to see if I can find the main board so I can replace it, I like it, last me three years so if I can fix it I will. if not I'm going LCD....
