Have any one tried using the phone book option in this phone. It saves the caller number with out the '1' and if we use to dial the outside caller it will not go through because its missing the first digit '1' for non local calls. This phone gives the option to edit the name by inserting letters with arrow keys but for numbers it clears the digits from right to left so if you cannot memorize the string of 12 numbers you are out of luck in saving the number from a caller ID display.I read the manual several times looking for work around. Have any one found a way to use this useless feature.

disassemble the handset (if you can figure out how to get it open). Flip the LCD screen over so that you can get to the end of the wire ribbon. You want the end that is connected to the phone, not the LCD screen. Carefully use a heat gun or hair dryer to heat the cable being careful not to melt it. Your goal is to melt the glue that connects the tiny wires to the electrodes. When glue is melted use a pencil eraser to press the wires so that they make contact again. Let it cool and try it out. It should work well after that. Put your phone back together.

Not sure if this is the same phone, but when I enter a number/letter, the "Mute" button serves as a backspace/delete function. So what I did was go to Menu>Directory>Review, scroll to the contact I wanted to delete, and press "Mute", which asks me to confirm to delete the contact. Hope this helps.

I found the fix. Vtech customer care had the fix. By using the # key at the received call number will give you preceeding dial numbers like area code and the '1' it works good. Modify the number before saving it to phone book.
