All my CF cards now give me the same message, including the original start up card. I originally got an out of memory message while shooting and replaced the card with a spare one but my Nikon 5700 did not recognize it even though I've used it before. I can't format any card in the camera now as all CF card functions are disabled on the menu. I tried a brand bew card with the same results. All these cards still work fine in a reader and I did not lose a single shot. I just can't take any new ones.
Your problem sounds as if there's a bent pin in the CF card holder inside the camera. To fix it you will have to be very careful with a long blade fine screwdriver. Remember you'll have to straighten it in one go. If you bend them twice you can bet they'll break. A powerfull light to see the bottom where the pins are is needed too. If you're not willing to do the job yourself there's a guy on Ebay USA who straightens them. BMW
