The batteries are put in wrong, or there no good, or the dc jack in the back still has the plug in it for the ac adaptor. You see theres a small switch on the jack inside the unit that switches from the ac adaptor to the batteries, when the jack is iserted. Also if the plug is not pluged into the jack, then there could be a bad jack or a broken solder connection on the jack inside on the printed circiut board. good luck

My CTK 720 isn't powering on from the adapter anymore but battery power is working. I bought a new adapter but it still isn't powering on. Can this be repaired?

This could be a loose plug inside the unit or it could be a circuit that is bad. If the plug failed it is from physical damage from something like tripping over it or heavy use. That can be repaired by replacing the plug. If it is something like a component in the unit on a board then it becomes a little more involved.

Acer Aspire 5315 won't power up. The AC adapter has a green light on it, so it appears to be getting power. The battery indicator light does not light up at all when I try to power it up. Do you think it...

There could be a problem with the battery. A fast check to determine whether you have a problem with the power adapter, power cord or the laptop's battery is to turn off the laptop, remove the battery, connect the power adapter, turn on the laptop & see if it works.
If the laptop works directly from the power adapter with the battery removed, then the power adapter is good. In this case we can suspect that the battery is defective & needs to be replaced.

If this did not help, try disassembling the laptop & re-seating its main components like the memory modules, hard disk drive, CD/DVD drive, etc.

Laptop not working on battery, i have changed the battery

There are several simple indicator to determine the source of the problem. There are 4 major components involved, the laptop circuitry, contact terminal, AC adapter and battery. Every laptop has a LED light indicating if it is in the charging mode (without powering up the laptop). Start out with your laptop shutdown. Pull out the battery, then plug in the AC Adapter. See any LED light go on? Try again, the same procedure now with the battery plug in first, then plug in the AC adapter. See any additional LED lights go on? If there is no different, than the laptop can not detect your battery. If the AC adapter can power up your laptop, you can eliminate the battery (assumed brand new battery) & AC adapter. This only leaves you with the laptop circuitry & contact terminal. If your laptop can charge up your old battery or any battery, then it might be still the battery & contact. So, you try these procedure to reduce down to the "problem" component.

HP DV2036ea i have a blank screen on the computer

Hello there

Description.

When pressing the notebook power button nothing is displayed on the screen or display. The cause of this problem may be a failed AC adapter, the memory modules (RAM) need to be reseated or a failed notebook system board component which will require an HP certified repair.

Below steps will assist in identifying the cause of the problem and suggest the best solution. Test the AC adapter Follow the steps below to determine whether the problem is related to the AC adapter or your notebook system board.
  1. Remove the battery and disconnect all external devices from the computer.
  2. Hold the Power button for several seconds, with all power sources removed. This drains residual power from the system, and may correct many problems.
  3. Connect the AC adapter to a wall outlet and plug the other end into the computer.
  4. Press the Power button to start the notebook PC.
If the notebook does not start or the display is blank then check the power indicator light or power socket LED. Check the power indicator light or power socket LED On newer models of notebook PCs, there is an LED or indicator light around the power socket on the notebook. Check to see if this light is on or off, when the notebook is plugged into AC power. The power indicator light or power socket light should turn on when the AC adapter is connected.

  • If the light does not turn on then the problem is most likely related to the AC adapter or the electrical source in your home or office. Go to the Light does not turn on section on this page.
  • If the light does turn on but the notebook does not start or the there is a blank screen then continue to the Light does turn on but the notebook does not start section on this page

The light does not turn on when the AC adapter is connected If the power indicator LED is off, the AC power adapter may need to be replaced. To determine if the AC power adapter needs to be replaced follow the steps below:
  1. Ensure that the AC adapter is plugged directly into a known working wall outlet.
NOTE: To check the wall outlet, plug in a different known working device like a light, radio etc.
  2. Check all of the following connections:
    • The connection from the power cord to the wall outlet.
    • The connection into the power adapter from the power cord.
    • The connection from the AC adapter to the notebook power socket.
  3. Press the power button again to test the notebook PC.
If the power indicator light still does not turn on, then the AC Adapter needs to be replaced. Contact HP Service and Support for further assistance. Power socket LED or power indicator light is on but the notebook does not start If notebook power indicator light (LED) is on, the AC adapter is working correctly. The problem is a result of a hardware failure in the notebook itself. In some cases, reseating the memory module (RAM) may solve the problem.

  2. Use your finger to lift the battery up and out.
Step 2 - Remove the memory module
  1. Locate the memory module cover on the bottom of the notebook.
  2. Remove the screw that covers the memory module.
  3. Use your finger or a flat head screw driver to lift the inside edge of the memory module and remove it.
  4. Push both tabs outward simultaneously to release the memory module.
  5. Grasp the memory module by the edges and pull gently to remove it.
  6. After removing one module, replace the memory expansion cover and then replace the screw.
Step 3 - Replace the battery
