Did you recently install another application to your computer? Like an anti-virus maybe? Try this. Go to Control Panel > Device Manager. Look for your Zen under Portable Devices. If you see an exclamation mark on your Zen, double click on it. Another dialog should pop up. Go to the Driver tab and click Uninstall. Then disconnect your Zen from your computer and reconnect it again. This solved the problem for me.
If you can't connect through USB anymore (also no reaction on you computer and no sign of connecting on the screen of the player),
you are going to need a new logic board. You can get the parts on ebay and there are creative zen repair guides that show you how to do it. I know only one place that repairs creative zen players. If you just want to get the music out you can stick the hard drive on an iPod video logic board (they are compatible) and use a utilty like sharepod to extract the music.
SOURCE: My Creative Zen M won't "dock"
My zen microphoto wouldn't dock after working well. It coincided with a download of windows media player 11. I was told to download media player 11 again and to restart the computer twice. Something to do with a driver missing. I didn't think this would work - but it did! In fact two zen micros that wouldn't dock are now docking perfectly!!

If you tried to reset it, but it did not respond at all, this indicates that the reset button is broken. You'll need to have it repaired.

I had the same.. just wait till the battery is empety. then plug in on your pc to load the battery again and just turn it on
SOURCE: my creative zen touch will not dock

Same problem. May be coincidence, but it started when I updated Norton a couple of days ago.

Usually answered in minutes!
i tried reinstalling and it recognises it but wont connect.
player can charge but wont be recognised by the computer.
My Zen is not recognized by my computer.
Usually I can read the hard drive, but now nothing.
On the screen (of the Zen) I see th battery icon with a red stripe on the left side of the battery indicating low battery. A lighning bolt icon slashes over the battery. The blue "on" light flashes while the Zen is plugged into the computer...but this situation is perpetual... I left it overnight assuming it would recharge. But nothing.
Any ideas? Please advise.
Hi, I have the exact same problem, I connect my Zen with a USB wire and it just turns on, even if the battery was dead, but doesn't recharge. It doesn't dock either...
I have exactly the same problem. Someone I know at work is also having the same problem. The thing is it used to work fine but I recently had to replace my hard drive and it's only since then that it wont connect. The hard drive is the same as the old one. I can't figure it out.
