Question about ViewSonic VX900 19" LCD Monitor
My VX900 wont work at all. Such that there is no video , screen blank (black), still front light shows that there is power but no vidoe at all (no message either). Any suggestion where to check would be much appreciated. Thx
If you can see the screen faintly still the backlight is dead. If the inverter of inverter fuse was dead there would be nothing at all on the screen period.

If you have the pc on and the monitor light stays green, take a flashlight to the screen. If you can see the images while shining the flashlight into the screen, they will be hard to see but they will be viewable, then its most likely the back light. The vx900 takes 4 bulbs and they are about $12 US each. Anyone who knows how to solder should be able to replace them.

There are 2 surface mount fuses on inverter board. One of them is likely dead

My symptoms were exactly the same as what Fuzzytek described and not wanting to hassle with soldering issues, I went looking for a replacement inverter board. Lo and behold, I found http://www.lcdpart.com/lcdpartsnet/DAC12C024MSS.html. They seem to have inverters for most monitors, I don't know how reasonable the price is, but it was good enough for me....about $95 with shipping. Ordered it Sunday night, it arrived today (Wednesday) even with the cheap shipping, and it took me about 1/2 hour to get everything reassembled, checked out and running. They even have how to documents with pictures to walk you through the process. That alone is valuable...I think the cases on these things were designed by the Ex-wives association to torment us. They also have the replacement CCFL bulbs in case that is the problem.

Back Light could be burnt out.
