I have the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W7.  Lately, even though my rechargeable batteries are fully charged, the caera's battery indicator reads empty and the camera will only let me take one or two shots before shutting off.  I bought new Ni-Mh batteries, charged them, and it still happened.  Then I put brand-new alkaline batts in just to see, and it is still happening, so it is not the battery.  I cleaned the battery terminals with a Qtip, no improvement.  Must be some sort of electrical problem with the camera, can it be repaired easily?

Even with brand new batteries the camera only comes on for a second then shuts down. Occasionally it will stay on to take pictures but only very occasionally. This has been happening since we bought the camera and originally thought it was the batteries but now realise it is a fault with the camera. What do we do? Had it since August, bought from Argos so exempt from money back guarantee.

i have a sony dsc u10. some months ago it wouldn't turn on even if it has fully charged batteries. i even bought new set of batteries just to make sure theyre not the problem. thinking it was just a mechanical problem, i brought it to an authorized sony service station to have it checked. but when i got there it turned on so they didn't check it anymore. i was able to use it again normally for some months. just recently whenever i turn it on its low batt indicator would flash and immediately shuts down. but ive ruled out battery problem already so i brought it again to the same repair shop. they told me to leave it for a no of days so they can troubleshoot it. then they called me and said that the problem is with the board and replacing it would cost around 250$! could this really be the problem? coz i can still view the memorystick's contents when i connect it to the pc using the usb. i'm thinking it might just be a short circuit thing. of course i didn't have it repaired at that cost. i kept the camera for its sentimental value. i bought a new cam instead--a canon ixus70. but m still hoping to know for sure what went wrong with my dscu10.

You have either a faulty charger, a faulty battery or a fault in your camera. I purchased 2 batteries for my Sony 505v and from new one of them kept flashing an empty battery sign right in the middle of the display. Actually it was fully charged but Sony batteries have a little circuit inside them which tell you how long the batteries will last. In my case I could continue to use the battery but put up with that flashing icon. I returned it to where I purchased it and it was replaced Immediately. Please ,next time give us a little more information as to what battery type it is and which camera it goes in. Some cameras can develop a natural short circuit over time. BMW

HI,

The battery indicator will flash and/or the IC recorder will display the error ACCESS when the batteries are low. Install new, fully-charged batteries to resolve this issue.

A higher capacity battery should work even better because a fully charged 900 mAh battery allows the phone to operate 50% longer than a 600 mAh battery between charges. I have had good results with Rayovac Recharge Plus 900 mAh in my Philips SE450. This phone will latch and not operate upon ringing if it doesn't like its batteries (probably high internal resistance), even though the batteries test good on a battery tester.

Where can i buy a sony battery bp-hp550 1 1/2 4v

Even though you can use regular AAA batteries (that you would have to replace often), there is a huge convenience factor with using the charging cradle that comes with the Sony headset. A solution I found was that I ordered some 550 mAh AAA batteries through Ebay (they came from England and cost me $8 total for four batteries). To make the charging cradle work with the new batteries installed in the Sony headset you MUST use the bottom part of the plastic battery holder piece (all you need to do is peel off the BP-HP550-11 label and the bottom half of the plastic battery holder piece slips off of the Sony batteries). Then just slip in the new AAA batteries into the plastic battery holder bottom and then insert into the headset. The reason why you must use the bottom of the battery holder plastic piece is because the plastic piece pushes on a little switch. This switch activates the charging mechanism to enable the cradle charger to charge the batteries.

NOTE: I am not an electronics expert so I do not know if there would be any problem using other rechargeable AAA batteries (with higher mAh ratings). So I decided to be safe than sorry and ordered the 550 mAh batteries through Ebay.

may be batteries you brought are old try with normal ( not rechargeble ) batteries. it would not last long but you can take atleast 30 to 50 photos. if it works it means new batteries are faulty.this type of problem i never saw in camera.use SANYO harmolattice HR-3UQ batteries.

I have a low battery indication with a fully charged battery on a Sony DSC-F717. What do I do?

First, even a fully charged battery may not be working right - VERY common.
Does the camera do this on two batteries, one old and one much newer? (I say this because lithium batteries are good for about 500 charges - if you are over this, the batteries will always read weak...)
A service shop can test the camera and see if the battery is reading correctly. A service shop may allow you to try the SHOP's good battery in your camera and see if it reads right. If OK, you need a new battery.

The service shop can reload the operating data into your camera - I have fixed them this way myself.
If not, the circuit board that handles charging and batteries may run you $275 plus labour. (The board is not repairable)
