See if the top of the adgitator is removable, there is a bolt way down under the liquid fabric softener and top lid. And possibly a top sealed cover as well...
There are usually only two places that it will be. Take the lid off and see if it taped to the cross bracket under the lid or remove bottom access panel and look on the back side of it. It may also be one the side wall when you remove the access panel.
HI THERE, IT SOUNDS AS IF YOUR PUMP IS BLOCKED, NOT WORKING OR SOMETHING MORE SERIOUS. START BY CHECKING THE PUMPS IS NOT BLOCKED, LOOSE CHANGE NORMALLY CAUSES THIS AND IS RELATIVELY EASY TO FIX.
Finding the pump on the Kenmore Elite top load washer is a fairly easy project that can be done in about a half hour. The Kenmore Elite is part of the GE line of appliances and shares many of the same interior mechanical parts and systems. The Kenmore Elite is a very streamlined exterior cabinetry design, but the interior can be accessed by removing just a few screws in order for you to locate the water pump. things you'll need:
Screwdriver
1
Unplug the electrical cord of the Kenmore Elite top load washer from the electrical outlet before attempting to locate the pump.
2
Remove the end caps on the control console of the dryer by pressing in on the caps with your thumbs and pulling the caps forward to unfasten them.
3
Unfasten the screws on the ends of the control console in the front with a screwdriver and tilt the console back so that it rests on the back hinges.
4
Unplug the top lid switch from the rear of the lid that sits underneath the control console, pulling the switch straight up off the metal prongs by hand.
5
Pry the metal clips that sit on the top lid up with a screwdriver, lifting the clips to unlatch the top and pull the top lid cover off the washer base, setting it aside.
6
Locate the water pump at the base of the washing machine on the top of the motor shaft.
7
take the cover off the pump and remove any blockage or debris.
Getting the lid off of your Kenmore is simple. Raise the lid. At the bottom on each side are a pair of screws that go through the lid and attach to a reinforcing bracket on the inside. Take these screws out, remove the bracket, do the same for the other side. A small bowl or ziplock will keep these small bits from getting away. When you have repainted or replaced the lid, insert the bracket with the loop down, and insert the screws from the outside through the lid.
Yes I fixed my washer problem.
The washer was stopping before it would drain and spin. I would raise the lid and then close it back and it would start back up. So we figured the lid switch was broke.
Before you do anything you "unplug" the washer!
You have to pop the ends off the back panel with the buttons on it. Then you unscrew the 2 screws at the bottom of the panel and raise it up. Then you remove the brass clips that are holding the lid on. Then you move the whole washing machine cabinet out. My husband replaced the lid switch. Then we had to figure out how to get the cabinet back on right. That took some time but we did it. Then you repeat everything you did to take it off to put it back together.
Comes apart from the front. 2 screws on front of control psnel; flip it up. 2 clips to pry out; also ulplug lid switch. Cabinet lifts up from back and comes right off. Hope this helps!
Hey I have mine appart right now and the pump is busted, with a sheared keys on the impeller shaft. If you get it appart and can pull the impeller shaft out of the armiture you have sheared keys; this shaft should be nearly impossible to remove if the keys are still good. Mine look to have been a bit rusted. Likely cause is inferior steel succoming to bleach; which we use all the time to rid the washer of the persistant mildew.
