Er -4 problem

My receiver gradually became prone to display ERror -4 more than it actually played a cd. What in the world is the issue? It would sometimes play the disc if I turned it off then back on again but even that has stopped working. I have only had it for 4 months...tops.

First of all, you aren't going to like this solution because it's the truth. If you rate me poorly, it's because you don't understand the truth. The optical pickup is bad and needs to be replaced. Anything made by Jensen is poorly built. Yes, you're lucky to have even gotten four months use out of it. I've seen some that only last for two months and they die. Fortunately, that's why you didn't pay that much for it. I would suggest getting a Pioneer in the future.

CD player displays error code: ER-1

That error code means an unknown error has occurred. Try cleaning the player itself, along with the CD's prior to insertion to see if that helps.

CD player displays error code: ER-1

The ER-1 code signifies an unknown error. Try cleaning the player itself, as well as cleaning the individual CD's prior to inserting them.

If that doesn't remedy the issue, ask for further help.

Put a CD in and get message that says ER (Error?)...every CD that goes in spins, but does not play.

could be one of 2 things
use a cd lens cleaner to clean the laser lens .
or could be warped or damaged cds and player wont play them
also if they are burnt cd the player may be to old to read them.

My stereo will not play any cds and displays changer error whenever I try to select a cd to play.

A mechanical problem is more than likely the culprit. This will involve opening 'er up to get the fix happening. If this is your first project, I strongly recommend a repair shop visit....accordianman

Error message

Check and see if there is a fuse on the back of the unit if so check it to make sure that it is not blown. Also make sure that it is at least a 25 - 30amp fuse. If that is not it the make sure you have the power wires hooked up right. See a Er-05 message means that the power that that unit needs is not there. So it will not read all cd's. It takes more power to read a burner than a normal cd. Hopefully this helps

The CD has quit playing and an ER 4 message

I had it too. - when I bought the used vehicle and was elated that it had a Jensen sound system in it. The sound was good - played a CD the first time I put it in. We listened to the radio after an hour and then attempted to replay the same CD. The ER-4 message showed up. The man who sold me the vehicle had given me the paperwork on the unit and I reset it. I've had to do this at least 4 times which means you have to reset all your favorite stations, time, etc.
