Dvd player not reading ANY disc

My dvd player (part of a vcr combo) will not read any disc I put into it anymore. It keeps saying its loading and then after a few minutes it say disc error. I have tried using a laser cleaning kit and also turned it off/unplugged it many times for a day or more and that has helped for a time but now it won't work at all. Can anyone tell me how to fix it or where to take it to be fixed or if I'd be better off just buying a brand new player?

If you tryed to clean it and it didnt work you could have several things that went wrong and depending on what did go wrong will tell you if you wanna spend the money or buy a new one. If the laser assy went bad you probably will buy a new one. if you find a good authorized repair shop, then it may just need cleaning and a servo alighnment. or a bad spindle motor, or your missing a switched voltage on the power supply could be missing. Im sorry to tell ya that there are no user serviceable parts inside this unit unless your a tech. The only info i have for emerson is the help # Maybe they can show you where to take the unit to be servced/ 905-940-5089 Good Luck

If there is nothing on the disc, it will read, "no disc". It will only read and/or identify discs with media loaded or burned onto it. Your unit is a player, not a DVD+R (recorder). Can record VHS, but not discs.

Some blank DVD+R discs will not read on my DVD player

The JVC DR-MV1S DVD Recorder / VCR Combo does not suppport DVD+R, only DVD-R, -RW etc.
At least mine only supports these formats, as when I first bought mine, I got some blank DVD's they were DVD+R.
I recorded a movie onto one on my PC, then tried playing it in the JVC unit... no go!
Instruction manual (available for D/load online) proved to me that I could not play +R disks!!

DVD player does not read discs anymore

the Laser is most likely defective. most likly it will need replacement. There is no correction that can made to correct the problem except to that of a replacement of the laser
