Converting From 12/24 to Starght 24 Volt

I just purchased a new Minnkota trolling motor that is straight 24 volt. My previous trolling motor was a 12/24 volt which had the 12/24 volt switch on it. Per the two batteries, there are four wires (red, black, orange, and white). I'm not sure if I'm getting full power, and when I plug in my on-board charger after fishing, only one battery show as red--the other one is still green, like it hadn't been used. Are my batteries connected correctly for a 24 volt trolling motor. Someone told me that I needed to connect two jumpers to the batteries (negative to positive for both batteries). I'm not sure and haven't tried that. Does anyone have any ideas or remedies to my problem.

If red goes to positive and black to negative, why/what purpose does the n/c line serve.

Unit is a Lowrance sonar unit, not a trolling motor. What is the purpose of the third wire on the power line to the unit.

If it is 24v. then you need to connect 2 battery in parallel. since the battery is only 12v.
if one battery is shoing red and the other is sohwing green, that means you are using 12v only, not the 24v.
connetion as follow:
positve of battery 1 to the motor, the negative of battery 1 to postive of battery 2. the negative of battery 2 to the motor.

The batteries must be connected in SERIES. The method described is proper, but the name of the method is wrong.
On the female plug for the motor on the boat, if you have the wiring for TWO separate batteries coming to the plug, the male plug must have a jumper in it. To find out, disconnect the batteries one at a time and voltage check to see if there are two separate battery systems there. There probably are. If so, the series circuit is provided for in the male plug by the jumper and not in the back of the boat where the batteries must be wired independent of each other.

24 volt trolling motor (motorguide) not working. Have 24 volts at receptacle in hull of boat but when I plug in the trolling motor and check the volts on the plug, I only read 6 volts. Any idea whats...

You have a high resistance short either inside the wiring or the lower unit. This will cause a voltage drop. I would be very careful not to keep it connected too long cuz the battery is trying to keep up with the current demand and may explode.

Minnkota Traxxis Model 1368716 will run in reverse only and not forward

it could be the coil pack in the nose cone of the trolling motor which is not serviceable but can be replaced at a reasonable cost. it could also be the switch in the handle but it seems less likely. there is a test protocol to follow if you know how to use a volt/ohm meter. call the 800 number on your motor and have the tech send or email you the testing proceedure. they are very helpful and can give you the prices on the parts you need. good luck.
