Picture Freezes The picture freezes and the only way to fix is to powerdown and powerup the set. This has been happening for a while now only getting worse sometimes the picture will be fine for up to 30 mins. before the freeze and sometimes 30 secs. I am totally in the dark as to cause. I think possible dust intrusion causing color wheel to stop but this is only a guess. Can someone help me? When the pic. does freeze it looks like a picture negitive. (photograph)

my 3 year old TV was freezing and I changed the lamp 6 months ago. It is freezing and the repairman said it is probably the digital board which would cost $700. I sais if that is the case it is not worth fixing. Any thoughts

I doubt from your desciption of the problem that dust is causing the problem. It sounds more like an issue with the digital board which takes care of decoding the data stream. This problem is probably beyond your capabilities but any good repairman should be able to repair it quite easily and at a reasonable cost. Good luck.

Tv turns on with volume, but sometimes no picture or when there is a picture, it freezes up, sound still on, so tv turns on, but not always a picture

The freezes up is not good news for this set.

Usually it means a part that is needed will cost over 500 dollars and thus it is the end of the set.

I would first unplug the set, ANY CABLE OR SAT BOX, OR A RECEIVER IN LINE from power for a while and then plug all back, the incoming signal can actually cause this to happen.

Screen freezes and breaks up

The freeze ups normally happen before the red lights of doom and they are caused by the GPU and the CPU getting too hot and the soldering snaps off so they lose connection.

If you stop the heat build up you will be fine.

You can do this yourself using a good repair guide or you can send it in and they will fix it for you.

You can fix this yourself quite easily!

My xbox 360 freezes or the picture goes all distorted then freezes.

Yes this is quite common before the red lights, it happens as the GPU is overheating and loosing connection to the CPU.

You can fix it by stopping the heat using a good repair guide or send it in.

TV freezes for a short period of time.

First a couple of questions:

1) What is the make and model please?

2) When the picture freezes, is it like a snapshot photo? or does the screen blank?

This sounds like an interruption in the digital data stream. If the picture remains on the screen, the "new" frame information is not being received nor processed. This can be as simple as a bad cable connection or noise on the digital information data lines.

Check to see if there is any pattern to when this occurs. For example, does it happen more frequently after the set has been on for a while? Try cooling down the set to see if temp effects the behavior.

Please update this and we'll work to resolve it.

Thanks,
Dan

Picture on Vizio HD 47" LCD TV freezes

It sounds like a main board failure but it could be the power board as well, to find out your going to need to test the power supply voltages when it quits
