This internal fault code can mean so many things, but basically it more than likely has some internal parts that the smoke is no longer inside. They can be repaired however, email [email protected] to discuss further.
Thanks, Bob

I am plugged to shore power. I have had the inverter on with 13.8 showing. Been hooked up for 3 weeks. Now shows 10.2 with e02 code. Still hooked to shore power. Whats up?

Because you plugged to shore power doesnt mean that there is power coming to boat. Make sure that you getting shore power and that on electrical panel you are swithed to shore power not to OFF or Generator. Verify that inverter is in correct setting too.

Looks like I have found the problem with why my two inverters smoked. I did not have shore power and was using a Generator. I purchased a New Generac 7kw gen. Well there is a short between the Neutral and the Ground on the Gen. Not sure if this intended or a defect. So When I connected it and the Inv sensed shore power the charger would come on and in about 15 min it would just burn up. Never tripped the breaker. This is a design short fall in the inverter and it should have a protection circuit to warn you and shut it down, I am using this in my camp and it almost burned down my camp! I have switch to a different brand inverter now.

This is a know and widespread problem with the Prosine 2.0, yet when you call Xantrex, they want to charge you to return, repair and/or replace the remote panel. Shame on you Xantrex.

I have a Xantrex 3000 Watt inverter on my boat, largely to run my 120-volt fridge. The installer told me to never, ever have my shore power hooked up, and especially not to turn on the AC circuitbreaker...

Most likely reason for 'ticking' sound is one or more FET(field effect transistor) have shorted . Any electronics shop can fix ,but, repair may approach cost of replacing . The parts themselves are not expensive but labour may be high .
Consider getting an inverter designed for solar installs with proper automatic 'shore power' switching and never worry again .

Xantrex Prosine 1800i "DCDC Shutdown" when connecting AC Load

Hi Schnupfy,

Well, it may be advertised as 1800 watts, but that is a peak. While the 230 VAC may be dead on target, don't expect it to run a mig welder.

Sustained high output is totally dependent upon the power source. What it's doing is protecting itself. DCDC Shutdown indicated 'An overload or system Fault'

Possible problems that would cause this:

  • The load is too high (what is the load?)
  • The power source is intermittent or weak
  • The power source is run through a distribution panel or isolator (Voltage drop)
  • The wiring from the 12VDC source is too long for the gauge used
Click here for a PDF copy of the manual. It is quite well documented.

BEST REGARDS,
MIKE

My prosine 2.5 charger inverter intermittent

First try blowing it out the unit with compressed air to see if there is large amounts of accumulated dirt inside, look for black soot on the center of the air outlet side.

Intermittent problems are the hardest to troubleshoot.

Thanks.
