Someone may have hacked into your router and is using up your bandwidth.

go into the router and change (or enable) the security settings. If you don't require wireless, DISABLE it.
unplug and reconnect the modem/router
reset the computer.

PS - don't think that just because your wireless security is configured that someone can't hop onto it.
I have an old P-III laptop that can crack a 128 bit WEP key in 8 minutes!
Disable the wireless if you don't need it or change to WPA/WPA2 personal.

It may even be that someone hadn't hacked in to your system YET but was attempting to...one of the tricks to hacking a WEP key is to inject signals at a high rate of speed which would bring your router to a crawl.

to improve downloading speed, you can do some research on port forwarding. Download speed also depends on the source of the download and your connection speed.

Hi, 1)Download and install the bit torrent software from www.bittorrent.com 2)Go to the below link http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/3819201 3)click"Download this torrent" and download the torrent file. 4)open the downloaded torrent file and ms office 2003 will be downloaded. 5)If the download is slow or didn start open bit torrent dialogue box from quick launch .. then right click the downloading dile and give force start 6)good luck. (bit torrent software is needed because it has the capability to pause in middle of download incase of net problem and it will start automatically )

Hi. Go to www.speedtest.net and select a location from the map. It will test your broadband upload and download speed.

To find out youre internet speed;
www.speedtest.net
(make sure you dont have any applications that use youre internet. this is to get the correct speed)

You can set a limit for what the torrent can download for.

Right click it and find out how
(i dont know what client you use)

check what speed your service provider is giving you for downloading.
do this by going to www.DSL.com. or one of the other places that check you download and upload speeds.

this is not a problem with ur PC or router this could be in the Filter or splitter that ur ISP gave you, what i would do is call ur ISP and have them run a line test that could be the reason
