Question about AOpen DUW1616/ARR DVD RW Dual Layer Burner

DUW1616/ARR DVD Jammed

DUW1616/ARR DVD CD stuck in. Can feel the click, all external screws removed, pushed in black thumb side panels. Black cover acts as if coming off but still something holding it. Cannot view internally

Can't you just push an opened out paper clip in to the eject hole on the front of the tray cover. It should be just above the eject button.

Can I open a jammedDUW1616/ARR DVD
Look on the front of the tray where the eject button is There should be a small round hole, this is for ejecting a stuck disk. Just open out a paper clip and insert in to the hole and press until the tray opens.

It is not detected as a DVD it is only labeled as a standard CD thought DVD's can be read but burnt, how can i fix that problem?, i already tried downloading drivers from AOpen.com but everything remains...
Have you checked how the drive is listed in device manager? You may need to find the Firmware for your model of drive and Flash it. This usually isn't as hard or scary as it sounds. :)

Will not eject when button is pushed, have to use paper clip
Can you hear the motor running when you press the eject button? If yes then you need to change the drive belt.
Open the RW Drive's cover and locate a belt, which connects the two pulleys, from motor to tray gear. It is usually at the front below the tray. Replace this belt and your trouble will be gone.
If there is no belt inside, then you can apply some grease on the gearing.
This is my personal repair procedure and works always.
However, if the motor is not running the problem cannot be repaired at home.
If you cannot follow my instructions, then take it to the service center for the technician to perform repairs. Its low cost and quick.
Remember: dismantling the drive will void the warranty.

Cd stuck in Acer Aspire L3600
If you look on the door of your cd drive next to the button you push to eject the cd there is a small hole.  This is essentially the ememrgency release.  Unfold a paper clip and push it straight into the hole.  Once it releases you will feel the paperclip pushing down on a button.  you will feel and hear the drawer release.

I just removed one of these cases.
The silver face-plate is attached to the cover that you wish to remove. The black plastic just below the silver is a part of the base.
  • With the face of the computer towards you, place your thumbs on the black plastic below the face-plate.
  • Use your fingers to press into the side-buttons.
  • Using your thumbs to push against the base, pull the cover towards you.

Drive Can't Burn DVDs
If it is a combo drive then you cannot burn DVD's with it.
A combo drive can burn CD's and play DVD's

If it is a burner, then install Nero and burn DVD's with that. But as above, if it says it's a COMBO drive, then it can't.

2 disks stuck in one slot of DVD player
Looks like it will have to come apart. Can you see how? Usually the top/side casing is simply 5/6 screws 2 each side and 1/2 at the back then slide back away from the from panel. Technical help at Panasonic may be helpful.
