The developer unit is inside the cartridge where the toner sits in. usually if you remove the toner hopper out of the copier and remove the top cover off you will see one compartment with toner and one with developer in it. The carrier is the the type of developer to use. All old developer needs to be removed from the machine as well as the mag roller in order to replace it.
Once it is removed the developer is placed evenly into the comparment. The hopper is reinstalled. Then a service mode is performed to calibrate the developed to make sure that the mixture is equal with the toner.
It should be done by a technician because if it isn't done properly, it will result in light copies being produced. The developer may get contaminated and have to be replace if it isn't done in the proper order.

CH steady means cover is open. Close either front or right cover well. CH blinking means developer unit or toner cartridge not installed. Remove and return well and firmly.
Remove the screws marked and all tapes around the copier, open the tray and remove the screw supporting it. Open the front cover and unscrew the green screw holding developer unit and pullout the unit. Open the 3 screws and pour the developer evenly and return it back. Remove the seals on the toner cartridge and insert it. Power on the copier and make a copy.
you take the drum out, then unscrew the developer (it should be a greenish screw), it should slide out, empty the developer out, take bag of new developer shake it up real good... then pour evenly into developer unit, while turning the mag roller... reinstall..
That unit uses an AR-016TD Toner/Developer Cartridge. The developer is changed each time you replace the toner. To remove the drum unit open the right side cover, then the front cover, remove the TD cartridge, loosen the green screw on the front of the developer unit housing just above the TD slot. carefully remove the DV unit without tipping or you will spill out the existing DV. Then you can pull out the drum unit. There may be a green screw on the drum that must be loosened but I don't think so on that particular model. Installation is the reverse of removal.
