Question about Samsung LTM1575W 15 in. LCD Television

1 Answer

Pop up box appears periodically

When watching tv for awhile, a small black pop up screen appears blocking the show. We hit a button on our remote and it goes away for a few seconds then reappears. It appears to do this on certain channels more than others (I think). Is there any way to get rid of it permanently. We tried to select menu buttons to turn feature off but no option on menu made it go away permanently.

Try bringing up the menu, and see if there's an option "factory default", and try that. you didn't mention what button on the remote you press to get rid of the popup, or what feature you are turning off to get rid of the popup,

Does the OSD (on screen display) come up when you hit the menu button? If so try changing the input to the one you need.

I had accidentally hit the text button and turned it on while trying to adjust the color. I turned it off with the remote and the problem went away.

Black rectangle on screen

The box you're seeing is the "closed caption' box. You need to use the remote and disable CC mode on it, and the box will go away :)

This could be the result of a partly shorted vertical winding on the deflection yoak.Since the line is on an angle and not straight across.

I'm guessing its the "CC", closed captioning. You have to turn it off, it's either in your menu or you have a button the remote saying either, Text or CC.

Unwanted black rectangle on the TV screen

I'm not sure what type of TV you are using,, but most all Large Screens have a reset button someplace. You should be able to reset the TV and fix the problem. Its not the remote, making the image appear, but a command from it was misinterpeted. Sometimes turning the set off will work, but most often it needs to be reset.

EXCEPTION... if you are using a cable box. Disconnect it from power, wait 1 minute and then see if the problem exists. If the cable box is on even with the DVD you may still have this issue. Please reset the cable, and if that doesn't work, reset the TV.
Thanks! //D
