Question about JVC AV-48WP30 48" Rear Projection Television

Red is out of wack

TV is 4+ years old. 6 weeks out of extended warranty. Just the red projector is showing the hour glass out of focus on the top and bottom. I covered it up and the picture is fine. Any idea as to the cost of repair if I can't do it myself?

My friend , it sounds like you have a convergence problem. And certainly if you have electronics experience dealing with the HI VOLTAGE safety issues, as well as the unsoldering, then resoldering, and adjusting the main convergence with a cross hatch generator, Then go for it. BUT if one of these things I mentioned, You say what!!??? then Please for your own good as well as the good of your set, please do not attempt a repair on this set, as it is a solid state set and has no user serviceable parts inside and should always seek a pro to help in the repair! good Luck

Bought a 360 arcade in December and it wont read alot of new games. We think it is burning the disk instead of reading them. It also was showing a red ring of death two weeks after our purchase. We bought...

Hi,

Because the Xbox is new (less that a year old) Microsoft will repair this problem for free whether the red ring has 1,2 or 3 flashing red lights.

You will also need to tell them about the laser not reading properly.

They will no doubt send you a replacement Xbox as they are well aware of these issues and have even extended their warranty to 3 years with the 3 light red ring of death.

You may however have to wait something in the region of 6 weeks for the Xbox to be returned.

If you need anymore advice please post back.

Regards.

The projector is approximately 4 years old & on average runs for about 60 hours per week, 40 weeks of the year. After fitting a new lamp last October & resetting the projector, the image is still...

Additional information is required for us to assist. Can you better describe what you mean by "poor image"? Are the colors separated? Is the picture out of focus? Are the colors wrong?

Please describe the picture or post a picture of the screen if you can.

Thanks,
Dan

Bottom right side of screen (about 4 inches high) has blue tint

I had the same problem with my 4 yr old Sony KDF60WF655 rear projection set, and I was fortunate to buy a 4 year extended warranty - because it was the "Optic Block", ($1300. -not incl labor), that was replaced to fix the problem. That part contains all new LCDs, & multiple Lens & some electronics. I had already got a new bulb (under warranty) a few weeks earlier, that I had not yet installed so the service guy did replace that as well. (This happened 3 weeks before my warranty ended).

He told me that he replaces hundreds of Sony Optic Blocks every year and that many Sony Rear Projection sets have automatic FACTORY extended warranties (up to 10 years), because of some known problems with the blue LCD panels. You might want to contact a SONY office & see if your set is covered.

ALSO - The tech checked my Service Codes & showed me the TV had been running for 10051 hours in about 4 years - on the Original bulb! He was quite surprised because he said the bulbs usually last about 5000 - 7000 hours. He also said it's good to replace them BEFORE they go bad, because they can sometimes burn out the amplifier that powers the bulb, (which is a seperate piece that attaches to the outside of the Optic Block). My TV is like new now.

Plasma screen color problems

Hi
I just bought a 42pc5d plasma tv it's an LG I bought it in Sept. 07 it started doing the exact same thing your talking about here the red glow type thing. Luckily for me and I hope in your case that the tv is under warranty, although if you know someone or even a repair place I don't think it would cost much to fix (just a guess but the guy told me that it was an easy fix so don't let them try to screw you). It really is a simple fix according to the tech. You need to adjust the voltage. He took the tv and watched it until he saw the red and adjusted the voltage and I had my tv back the next day. This was about a week ago and I haven't seen it since. I hope this helps and I hope you have a warranty. By the way LG comes with a 2 year manufacturer's warranty standard so if you didn't get an extended warranty from where you bought it if it's less than 2 years old call LG and they will arrange to have it fixed that's what I did. Here's the number 1-888-542-2623. Good luck.

Won't piwer on

Tried to turn it on? Sounds like you need to replace the lamp. However, I got an additional week out of my unit. Although poorly dimmed and the red Lamp light blinked constantly for that one week, at least it gave me enough warning to seek out a replacement. But so long as you're not mistaking the Power/Standby or Timer light for the Lamp light then I would have to agree with you. http://store.l-f-l.com/prod/A-1606-034-B Includes shipping to the United States and no sales tax outside of California.

Optoma hd72 bulb turning off

This is NOT a bulb problem unless your "lamp" LED is lit, which you say it is not. Many people have reported this problem with the Optoma 72. You can send it in for warranty service (it has a 2-year warranty) to get the lamp controller chip replaced, but the problem may recur. Optoma does not appear to have a permanent solution to this problem. My projector has broken exactly like yours TWICE in a year. I haven't even needed to replace the original bulb yet. :(
